Since the introduction of the academy in 1998, how many players can you name how have gone on to decent careers or are decent prospects...
Our Academy is poor and has only ever really produced League One standard players bar the odd exceptions.

We signed Richards and SWP from other clubs.

Currently in any top league in Europe we've produced Kieran Westwood, Nedum Onuoha, Stephen Ireland, Daniel Sturridge, Glen Whelan and Joey Barton. Most if which aren't first choice for their clubs.

We've not produced top players since the 1960s.

Your post was going brilliant mate, but to say we have not produced top players since the 60s is laughable, just in my own lifetime Paul Lake would have been and was top grade in his his fledgling career, so many managers and football sorts have come out and said he woulda gone the distance at the very very top and having seen him myself i too would wholeheartedly say the same. David White was fkin class too, there is just 2 off the top of my head but yes, i get your point.

i'm sure Neil Taylor at Swansea and Westwood at Sunderland had something to do with our academy, or am i mistaken?
