Yeah 40 give and take relegation and cup matches would be at least 45 years?

Unless you count Tony Book, Paul Lake Testimonials etc

The Testimonials used to be great too, Was it Arthur Albiston's where it ended 2 all? Also was it played on a Sunday as I have a recollection of going from the game to the cricket at proper Old Trafford?

I do remember that there was loads of lumber before the game.

Yeah I think there were two around that time one we got hammeredcan't think if it was AA or another.

The last one I went to was Mike Duxbury, who is a decent bloke, was working and Bolton Institute last I heard, we won that 2-0 I think (the 5-1 was not long after), I skipt the Denis Irwin one, testimonials are a joke now.

Managed to get in at around 8.55, sounds like I did the right thing though (was refreshing form 8.30).

Looks like they are holding on to flog the four match set, there seems to be plenty of choice in that section.[/quote]

Wouldn't suprise me if they hold loads back so that the only way you'll be able to get a ticket for the Derby would be to purchase the fours match set thing.

40 is some going, I salute you! The only downer is that I can't take my Dad, he had bone marrow transplant 18 months ago and still cannot mix with large groups of people, so football is defo a no no, felt a right tight bastard telling him I got tickets, especially as his brother is coming with me! Dad not been to a Derby game for about 20yrs since moving away from the area, he's absolutely gutted he can't come.
shame about that, i hope he gets better soon
been similar for my dad
he has a seasoncard but hasn't been able to get to the ground since October 07 due to a variety of illnesses
i still get his card, in case he's well enough to go, but think this may be the last time and let it go next year

Thanks mate same goes to your dad. My dad last went at Christmas in 2007 also, illness sucks!

Love going with my old man, still remember my 1st game, was away to Leicester when they played at Filbert Street - what a shithole, had to wade through 3 inches of piss to go to the loo at half time! First home game was at Maine Road against West Brom on 28th Feb 1998, never forget the feeling when walked up the stairs and saw the pitch and the Kippax for the 1st time.

i remember the excitement
and we beat them 4-0 thanks to two goals from neil young, who remains my fave player to this day

My view on Filbert street was probably coloured some what, I can't remember exactly when it was but I was probably only 12/13. I then didn't get to another game until the West Brom match.

I love it, and go whenever I get the chance to, which sadly isn't that often. The Mrs wants us to move back up north (she's from Bingley in Yorks) in a few years, I told her the only way that will happen is if I get a job with no weekend working involved and a season ticket for COMS!

Moved down to Northamptonshire when I was 6 with the folks in 1987 - didn't have much choice tbh ;-) Live in south Lincs now but working Saturdays & Sundays sucks as it takes so much planning to get time off to be able to get to a game, normally ends up spur of the moment on a Sunday game or midweek kick off! Quite like her part of the world too, is much nicer to look at than round here. But that is my condition for moving even further from my family and round the corner from hers!

you can't legislate for parents moving around the country, but at least your dad took you on a pilgrimage to see the blues both home and away

This is very true, and for that I will always be grateful. We both thought he had failed with my younger brother, he came to Filbert Street and Maine Road a couple of times but then never really bothered. Then at the grand old age of 26, he got himself Sky Sports, started following City and is mithering at me to take him to a game!! Result!

This is true, even my Mrs quite like going now, although not taking her to the derby, taking someone who will understand and fully appreciate it!

Forgot to say a Thanks You to the OP, if I hadn't seen the post I wouldn't have checked tickets, would have assumed (wrongly) they were sold out.

It bites deep alright, you may wish to investigate introducing him to less painful alternatives such as crack cocaine addiction or self harming?

Both will work out cheaper and at least he'll have helplines to call, we just have this place.

I think he tried the cocaine thing in his teens, didn't work out so straightend himself out into a proper bloke.
