Considering the legal age of consent in this country is 16, and considering that engaging in sexual activity with anybody below that age and therefore still a child is illegal, I am putting Adam Johnson in the same bracket as "sick fucks who shag 5 year olds" - I'm quite concerned that you're not doing the same, to be honest, but judging by your almost staunch defence of him in this thread I'm not surprised.

Perhaps of we stay in the EU then the age of consent can be standardised for all EU countries - perhaps at 13 like Germany and Italy or 15 like Italy.

It seems odd that a man can be an evil criminal in England when 22 miles away in France he would be a law abiding citizen.

Except that he would probably be an evil criminal there too, those lower ages of consent tend to have legal strings attached and grooming would definitely be one of them - a 13 year old child in Germany would still be a minor in general legal terms if not in sexual terms.

Whether you are caught doing 33mph or 77mph in a 30mph speed zone, by law you're still committing the same offence.
Yes you are typically punished more if caught speeding faster but for me someone doing 33mph in a 30mph zone and then caught is just an idiot, not a severe speeder.

That's the issue though, can we objectively call her a child and can we say that she wasn't mentally or physically ready for it? We stick in a random age (16) as when is lawful to have sex but clearly girls are ready at different ages. Is it wrong to have sex with a mentally and physically ready 15 year-old compared to a 16 year old who clearly isn't ready? Our legal system says one thing but that is clearly up for debate.

You're correct, i do see a difference between raping a 5 year old and what Adam Johnson has done.
Im not defending anybody, he as broken the law and should be punished accordingly
