Adebayor story in the mail, makes me angry!

If he doesn't play in 10% of first team games this season he can walk and claim full payment of his contract i believe?

Maybe thats his game...
its 10% of games over the time already gone on his contract he will be well above that and i imagine if he doesnt play another game will reamain above it for the rest of his deal due to how many games he has already played

Surely being completely inactive for up to two seasons will leave him unable to attract any sort of sponsorship etc. So by staying I think he will be worse off.

Players such as Rooney are contracted by Nike to take his shirt off to reveal his Nike Pro after every game. Similarly in the Olympics I'm pretty certain straight after the end of the race alot of Nike athletes took their shoes so that when being interviewed the shoes were in the camera shot.

What sort of company is going to be paying millions for a player who cannot advertise their product on one of the biggest stages in front of a huge audience?

Which by all accounts we're offering anyway. Is he happy to sit out of football for a year to prove a point? I think not.

Maybe letting him rot for a year and then getting shut is the only option left..

I was under the impression that it was 10% of games in any one season going off I what I've read in some other threads.

We were willing to match his current salary but he is refusing to go as in 2 years, Spurs would reduce to his salary to what they can afford.

Ade is thick as pig shit. If he spends 2 years not playing, we will be no worse off but no one will pay him £80k per week when he is 30 and hasn't played for 2 years. He is simply a greedy ****.

-- Wed Aug 15, 2012 11:35 am --

I thought he could simply leave and break his contract. We wouldn't have to pay it up though. That bit's wrong I think.

Think Ade's thinking stick out his contract at city on his 170k a week and in when his contracts up sign for someone else on a free and make buckets loads! So for 2 years he has his feet up

Ridiculous attitude from a 'professional' footballer we all know its a short career and if it were me id much rather spend it playing than rotting in any teams reserves.

I'm sure the club have learnt a very hard and painful lesson from Ade's dealing and surely would not go after players with that mentality in the future. The club, or whoever agreed the terms is to blame. But back then we needed to be more agressive with our recruitment to attract top players, now we don't so it shouldn't be a problem.

The most worrying thing now is what this says about him personally. Who in their right mind would want to have someone at their club like him. His obviously not motivated by winning things and is just happy to collect as much money as he can.

The day this pain in the ass fucks off I will celebrate with a fine glass of wine. No doubt the prick will score against us and run 100 metres again to celebrate infront of us hahah by far my most memorable memory

An acceptance of his inability to perform well enough over a sustained period is the reason, he knows full well by 2014 he's a kanu, knackered, over the hill- we offered to pay up the difference, it's spurs who are trying to be cute, who in there right mind would sign a contract with a caveat to go down 50% in waged in 2 years time??????

Maybe someone whose wages will be going down by 75-80% by the time he is finished at City

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but If we were able to wind the clock back a few years, I think Adebayor is good enough to be in our current squad, and Dzeko would be plying his trade in Italy.

I think his link up play is better than Edin, and he has the ability to go past people or take defenders on. He is much more than just a tall bloke in the box. We will never know what transpired in the decision to cut him out of our future plans, but within that time he has played at the highest level for Real Madrid and Spurs and not looked out of place at all, in some cases he was the best player on the pitch. Would Dzeko or even Mario perform similar feats in the same situation? And the fact that we are paying him 170k per week only narks me even more, cause now he is holding up the potential transfers of other players.

Good enough for our current squad? Maybe for about 1 season. This guy has a record of playing well for a limited period and then being sold on. He is poison and I wouldn't and don't want him anywhere near our current squad. I'd much rather have Dzeko.

Don't be silly - he'll be a free agent, a signing on bonus will appear and he certainly won't be left to rot as some think, 2/3 loans in that period and he will of accomplished his goal!!!

Divulge.....

If the article's to be believed, Ade reckons someone will offer him a 5 year contract similar to what he's on now, at the end of his current City deal.
That's Scouser levels of delusion right there.
If he'd worked his nuts off and kept his head down at City, he might not be facing the prospect of a 60% pay-cut in 2 years time.
Yeah, there were some mitigating circumstances, but the bottom line is, he didn't help himself much. He's made his bed.
I'll be dancing a jig the day the last of Hughes' wasters are out of the club.
