3 blues talking in the pub last night and differing opinions on the benefit.
I for one feel it was a great idea to be global to have more then one club under the brand. I also see it how Ferran said that we needed to do something different and would not be easily replicated by other clubs who are already ahead of us, if we are to catch up/ overtake.
Another blue thought they would rather have 100% of the owners on Man City not CFC. Would the collar site have moved forward by now or would we have a better team more trophies if we are the sole focus.
So what are the advantages to City
Revenue: I hear people say it will increase revenue (I.e if we did a kit deal for the group we would get more then on our own), which is no doubt true but I would assume City's share of the overall pot would be less.
Fans: If a team supports NYC or Melbourne City will they then have City as their Premier League team...Again we differ on this as I felt I am more interested in NYC and Melbourne then any other team...I don't watch games however but that is due to no interest in the respective leagues, however fans in these countries could well have an active interest in the premier league so benefit...The other side of that is fans of other clubs in MLS etc might not like NYC, so by association may choose not to support Man City.
Players: This is the one we saw as the main benefit the CFC would have more players then any other team, be able to offer more location, youth development, first team football etc. Have more scouts, knowledge of leagues so be better placed then anyone to bring players in and help them progress. We also felt that it would help City in shifting players on towards end of their contract and creating squad players. A different attitude from Yaya would he be getting a golden handshake at NYC.
Probably a better post during international week, as we have Everton to look forward to today. Just wanted to know other blues thoughts on whether it is good/ bad, benefits etc.
