This time in our title winning season the position was:

Manchester City 23 17 3 3 60 19 41 54
Manchester United 23 17 3 3 56 21 35 54
Tottenham Hotspur 23 15 4 4 44 25 19 49
Chelsea 23 12 6 5 41 26 15 42

We're 1 point worse off now, but on the other hand we have a point lead now

But an awful lot happened in Feb to May 2011, and we have to hope that we make it a little easier on ourselves this time round!

Difference being we started off a bit slow this year but are really in the ascendancy now. In the title season we started off on fire, then went off the boil around this time. I fully expect our second half point total will be far superior to the title season.

Remarkably similar and it would be kinder on the nerves if we didn't let it go down to the wire again. Plus factors this time are (in no particular order) we are in much better form, we have a better squad and a squad that has experienced a title run in and no Taggart driving ManU on. If we add to the squad tomorrow even better. Negatives we have two teams rather than just one competing with us for the title albeit I don't think Chelsea or Arsenal have the strength that ManU under Taggart had in 11/12.

All things considered we are in much better shape this time round. Game on Monday is going to be huge. Not quite the import of that Monday night home game against ManU in 11/12 as there are plenty of games left to go but it has the feel of a 'winner takes all' about it. Psychologically it could prove decisive. Of course having said that it will be a nailed on 0-0 draw which wouldn't be the end of the world to be honest.

Pointless comparison Marvin each season is different
If nothing else it suggests we're on target, demonstrates how far Utd have fallen, and reminds everyone of the twists and turns to come.

Had a look at last season after 23 games, and Utd had 3 more points, yet I remember them being relatively poor for most of the season.

The one thing that irritates me this season is that we don't have as many points as we should have give the quality of our play. Those early season away games were very costly, and I still maintain largely unfortunate

But we don't have Yaya going to ACON and I'm sure that awful February will NOT be repeated.

I can't believe we've only scored 8 more goals, and the goal difference is only 1 better!

The football we played in first 4 months of that season was incredible too

eg 6-1 at Utd and the 5-1 at Spurs. I think we dipped in Dec, Jan and Feb before coming good again. Reminder that we could go off the rails again. Then we were reliant on a smaller group of players

that's only in the League
It's still surprising that we only have 8 more goals in the league though considering the amount of games we've score 4 or more goals in. How many had we scored in all competitions by this time that season?
