After a nights sleep...

I am truly astonished by the reaction to last night. I am not saying that Mancini is perfect, I have my gripes, but I have definitely seen lots of progress under him and I'm not going to ignore that on the basis of a few average results. He made a fuck up last night bringing on Vieira, no doubt, and I realise he has to take the grief for that but personally I thought we were cruising to a reasonably comfortable victory until Vieira had his brainstorm (at a very difficult ground to go and get 3 points) and don't think the overall performance was anywhere near as bad as people have suggested. Any title challenge is over, which is disappointing but I still expect us to get top 4 and to have a good run in one or two cups. All this brilliant one week, awful the next stuff is embarrassing.

Sorry mate, but that's as daft as the media castigating us because we're not beating teams 8 or 9 - nil. Money doesn't equal instant success, and anyone who thinks it does hasn't been watching football for very long.

surely money can buy you a squad of decent football players that you can trust to take the shakles off? i suppose football purists have got no chance if a club can spend £300m plus and pass the ball around and create one or two chances in 90 mins.

id rather play the arsenal way and win the odd trophy here and there than the mancini way and win everything, but thats just me.

winning EVERYTHING isnt the city fans mentality, its to have a top laugh, enjoy some decent footy. keegan and pearce did pretty much the same job at city, but pearce gets hammered because he played crap football and keegan a hero because he played good football.

anybody who wants us to preform like a robot, no character, grinding out 1-0 wins with one shot on target all season is as bad as the rags.

we are city ffs. come on bobby, this isnt the city way.

Pulled the wool over your eyes? What, is he two-timing you? Let's see where we are at the end of the season and then we'll know exactly how far we have come. Then if you're not happy we can sack the manager and spend another 200 milliion on some new players and have a look at Christmas. And then if you're not happy...
 
After a nights sleep I am still depressed. A point at Brum is a decent point on paper but more points were there to be had......again.

I don't want him sacked or owt, and he is way better than Hughes. I think though that what frustrates me most about Bobby is that he has assembled this great squad and still insists on freezing out some who might help the cause, and playing those who clearly won't no matter how much they try.

A squad is there to be utilised. He needs to be more flexible or this season may just peter out.

I wouldn't, because we might just turn out to be like Arsenal fans without the moral high ground of not spending loads of money. "Look at how many passes we made, we deserve to win!" etc etc. I prefer to play the Mancini way for now, pretty passing can wait for 2 or 3 seasons.

Neither is our mentality one to slag off absolutely everything in the team after a bad result. The players, the manager, the passing, the pitch, the ref, why we didn't win, look at how much money we spent, why is the player who's almost 40 and never plays a bit slow now and again, but it's what's happening now. I enjoyed the first half, because we played well and passed brilliantly.

I don't expect miracles, I don't expect anything, that's because I'm a City fan. I especially don't expect anything at a ground where only one of the top 4 has won, I'm glad for the draw.

This is why fans should never EVER have a place on the board of a football club.

Money can indeed buy decent players, unfortunately "That c*nt" who polluted our managers office could not, a large part of that "£300 million" was wasted on the likes of RSC,Lescott,Bridge,Adie,SWP, Tel ben Hieam,and Bellamy............While losing the club the services of Dunne, Sturridge and Elano, a centre half, a creative midfield player, and a tricky player with pace that we could do with now.

A draw at Birmingham is not to be sniffed at, but for errors it would have been a win, but we are a team in the making and not the finished article yet,with some key positions still to be sorted out.............but way above the level that numpty managed
 
The result is not ideal. We are having what is called a bad run. But jesus the over-reaction on here is massively over the top. Utd drew at Brum in the Christmas week. At that point we were neck and neck with them. 35 days on after a bad run and we're 8 points adrift. This should illustrate what can happen in a month. It could happen to any of the other teams in the top 5. As an example to cheer myself up after the Aston Villa game... i watched the City Chelsea game from late September... i was surprised to hear on the pre match commentary that a Chelsea win would have put them 10 points ahead of us at that point. And since that time they dropped nearly 10 points behind and are now nearly level. It's a turbulent season so far.... utd seem to be the only team immune to its nature thus far, but i ask you this.... what if we beat utd in a few weeks.... they lose to Chelsea... then how does the table look?

I don't think we'll win it... never did this year.... but we need to take the rough with the smooth. From mid November - end of the year we were the in form team in the league. Blip now.. but we'll get back on course.... if we can put a stop to a bad run whilst still being in 3rd place.... its a good look imo. We're not playing well and luck is not on our side at the moment... but that will change.

Also worth bearing in mind... Brum away is freakishly tough. 2 loses in 25 home games. It is also 1 loss in 12 at home against (probably) the 6 best sides in the league (utd / Arsenal / City / Chelsea / Tottenham / Liverpool) in 2 seasons. Their only defeat being a 0-3 hammering against Arsenal last month.

Bet a lot of people didn't know that.
 
I think bobby has made us extremly hard to beat but that's not going to win us anything !!! Iam not anti bobby but can't see him staying long
 
what worries me is the lack of team spirit????,we just dont look too good,not together, if you know what i mean,every game turns into a battle,because of lack of concentration. i think we will have to wait til next season to see the team play as one,as for this /...battle it out for that fourth spot,if we fail its goodbye bobby!!!
 
Personally I blame the awful St.Andrews pitch. Almost as bad as Notts County. We need to follow the master of doctoring pitches (Whiskynose) who deliberately over-waters the Swamp to suit his team's style of play and footwear.

I wasn't one of those, although I'd argue that Hughes should have been sacked because he bought Roque Santa Cruz.
 
I have the distinct impression that some--not all but some--people are quite pleased at our lack of form at the moment because they would rather be proved right than anything else.

I think that is complete rubbish mate.

We all want the same thing, success but in football, opinions on how to get that success will always differ.

This isn't about individual posters on a City forum, its about our club.
