After today's games, realistically...

There are ways of looking realistically.Based on our form of late and especially away from home we will not get a top 4 place. Even with defeats at Chelsea and Liverpool and a draw at Everton ( that's realistic) we would still need to beat Spurs at home and Blackburn away ( not to mention a few so called easy games at home) to get 4th spot with the targeted 70 points.

Or we could bring in the realistic aspect of Spurs and say they are going to drop enough points along the way so that we scramble in without getting 70 points, say 67 and we do get 4th spot.

All this speculation is really garbage though and just forum thinking out loud fodder isn't it. We could beat Chelsea tomorrow.

3rd would be fantastic and should be what we are aiming for. But I'd snatch your hand off if offered 4th now, given how tight it is. 5th doesn't bear thinking about.

Yep, fully agree. Can't see Chelsea or Spurs winning CL. Sadly I can see the rags doing.

If we beat chelsea and go on a good run we could sneak 2nd, arsenal have crumbled unfortunatley. I would have liked them to win the league if it wasn't us.

As a red I fully expect you to qualify for Europe with a top 4 finish. Spurs are very erratic.

The title went a long time ago. We aren't a Championship winning side, far from it. Look at them again today, they just don't know when to give up, and are again 3 points better off for it. Until we get that mentality, the title will just be a dream. We have to finish 3rd for the season to be deemed as a success. 4th isn't successful, it merely puts us in contention for a CL campaign. 3rd ensures a CL campaign. With the money we spent in the summer and in January, ontop of all the money already spent, 3rd should be the target, or in other words does it take all that money to only do what Spurs did? 3rd is success, anything below 3rd isn't. There will be a reply to this about 4th being CL, blah blah blah, but look at the Kiev result. We will draw a Kiev type team, its written in the stars. We don't want that, we want direct entry to the group stages, and with the money spent, that is the minimum we should be getting.

Interests you? You need to get out more if your interests are fired up on a football forum. Back to point though, I could go with the flow, post things laden with hatred towards united and say all is well with us. My, what a boring existence that would be, being a sheep. No, realism is definitely for me.

If we win tomorrow then the gap is still only 7 points. Rags have games away at Arsenal, Home to Chelsea and away at West Ham (who are playing well) with a very sketchy defence. Teams are battling for their lives at the bottom and if you aren't at full strength it's easy to drop points. We could too of course but theoretically the title's not impossible yet. With Tottenham drawing at home today I definitely am not worrying about not getting fourth (in fact I wasn't before today either). I'll admit that Bolton losing today has kicked a bit of the optimism out of me. However, Arsenal are duff at the moment too.
