Aguero banned for three games (updated)

Personally do not think its worthy of punishment and like many I do not agree with the inconsistency of players being disciplined based on the profile of the match and the medias response to it.

Still it was not a great challenge and I glad the ref did not see as, if based on the opinions of the refs panel, he could have received additional punishment during the game.

Maybe its just me but I will never forget Messi playing as a false nine at the Bernabeu and winning 6-2. Im expecting Silva to be deployed there at Old Trafford and although Aguero has bagged the goals a false nine may allow us to dominate the game better.

I thought it was a challenge worthy a sending off. Whatever Mariner saw and judged it. Simply Aguero frustrated not picking his goal.
I'd say it was a yellow, but I wouldn't have argued too much if he got a red. What annoys me is that for a challenge which the ref clearly saw, and chose to take no action, and for which there was no contact by Aguero, the FA choose to act.

It fell before the Derby, so people like Savage, Talk Sport, Sky, the gutter press go mad, and the push the FA into a corner. if they reviewed everything it would be fair but they don't. They just review what the media make into an issue, and we all know what they make into an issue. The really glaring fouls, and the incidents that benefit the armchair army they are trying to sell papers to and get listeners from etc

West Ham's goal came from the left back run and cross. A left back who should not have been on the pitch because of repeated fouling. I am not sure if Stones left the field because of his foul, but I am sure it was him who took him out. Also there was foul after foul by him on Sterling and the ref just let him go on and on.

Correct decision. I'm pissed off with Aguero, fucking idiot considering the games coming up. He doesn't look like he enjoys his football as much as he used to in my opinion and he's a bit on the chunky and slow side. It's a good job he's awesome.

Don't know if this has already been said but ... I think the position of the ball is important. The guy pushes Sergio and Sergio is just trying to thrust his body back to get his head on the ball.
No violent intent.

Fa are mind readers . They read intentions but ignores leg breakers.

If it was a murder trial, I'd say there wasn't enough evidence to convict.
But it's football, and there's enough to convince most he was giving Reid a bit of afters.

It's a ban.

Plenty get away with this, but that doesn't make it right. He got caught.
Correct - what's wrong is the bias involved in the retrospective process. Its wide open to media manipulation which is what has happened here.

I know we wouldn't have been here had he not thrown the elbow, but that's only half the story.....there are loads of violent / dangerous incidents which a ref misses but what gets reviewed is what is convenient and opportunistic for a media who love a circus.

I look forward to the next time a Man Utd player makes a challenge like that. We must make sure they get the same treatment. Guardiola, MCFC, fans etc should make this an issue. If they want to use the rules for their benefit, then OK we can do that too. Or at least try.

exactly he saw it.......so what should have happened is a sending off at the time or a yellow at least....

The ref is lying and judgements shouldn't be based on a lie.....if he said I made a mistake and called it wrong then I would respect the decision of the FA to ban Kun.....but that hasn't happened.

Of course he is lying because he protecting himself. If he never saw the actual incident the he should not be a ref as he has problems with his eyesight

He missed the west ham defender also doing foul after foul

Some may argue he does not want to send players off but that leads to inconsistency in the game.

Ben Thatcher on Pedro Mendes, yes I remember that and the FA and ref did nothing then either, it was in fact the club who banned him themselves.

No, City imposed their own punishment but then the FA threw the book at him with an 8 game ban. If it was a 'clear' case of violent conduct no City fan would be complaining but anyone can see it was anything but clear cut which makes the fact the FA panel had a unanimous decision astonishing. Basically Sergio is unable to protect himself when being clattered by a 6ft 4 defender. It is a complete and utter joke.

Last season we had the Spurs 'offside' when we were flying at the start of a season, now it's a ban for our main striker. Disgusting.
