Utd? Urgh, that would be tough.
It won't go down well at all. Every player at the club has been told that no contract renewals will be talked about until the end of the season - no distractions as we go for glory.Clearly a briefing has gone out to the usual trusted city journos tonight from aguero’s camp stating he would want to join another prem team if we let him go. Not sure this is gonna sit well with pep and the board I think Fernandino has it right when he said now is not the time to talk about his contract situation wants to concentrate on winning games etc. Whereas aguero has tried to put pressure on us.
Real tough one for the club if Haaland is available I just can’t see a way we keep Aguero
Probably wont be a popular opinion but for me you keep kun as backup to haaland(especially as in 1-2 years or so when kun is finished delap will be coming of age proper), you shift raz, and you move gabby to LW/LF.I hesitate to say it but at the moment, Aguero and Sterling are surplus to requirements as far as the 1st Eleven is concerned.
I want Sergio to stay because he has been such an integral part of the club for 8/9 years, but, our playing style has evolved; his fitness has declined, and during his unavailability, we have had great success, results-wise.
He and Sterling - like everyone else - have to show that they can contribute and continue with this fantastically successful run. So, getting back to the issue, if he is to get a new contract, like everyone else, he has to be worthy of it going forward. He can't rest on his laurels, no matter how much we love him.
(Sterling has been ahead of him for the last 18 months, but, his recent dip in form has been alarming and his future is looking uncertain at the moment. Aguero is behind Sterling in the pecking order. Thing is, a few months back, many of us would have said the same about Cancelo, Rodri, Gundogan and Mahrez - things can change very quickly if you can get on a decent run of form.)
All imho, of course.
