Aguero's first goal

RE: City v Swansea. One of my closest friends at City broke up his engagement that summer and was very upset about it. He took me to The Waldorf for a pint to chat about it before the match. An old man wearing a Panama hat put Robert Palmer on the juke box and started dancing around. I was trying to keep a straight face as my friend was on the verge of tears. It was about 4pm on a Monday.

Hey, less of the old man if you don't mind, it was my day off on that Monday and I had my favourite hat on thought I'd go on the lash for an afternoon session after hearing Serge had put pen to paper..!

I was in the Waldorf as you correctly pointed out and thought I'd put Robert Palmer on the juke box and throw some shapes..!

I thought I looked cool at the time but sounds like I made a bit of a tit of myself..!

Thanks for the heads up.. Next time I'll ditch the hat..!

Aguuueerooooooo.... VAR checking... No goal... That would have been the outcome 2020.

Funnily enough, I can recall Sergio’s debut like yesterday, especially his second goal, what a strike! His debut, resonates for me and my family in so many ways. This was my first season taking my daughter aged 12 as a new season card holder, I’d been taking her on off for a couple of seasons prior. From that moment Sergio scored, let’s just say she got a crush on him, and has ever since. Sergio had influenced my daughter enough that she not only wanted to meet him but speak to him in Spanish. She started to learn Spanish at school and has flourished in Spanish since, going onto study Spanish and Italian at university, recently spending a few months in Madrid and now off to Italy for 6 months.

Her dream to meet Sergio finally happened when my cousin whom is a member of the first team medical team, arranged for her to meet him on her 17th birthday at the CFC. What can I say, she spoke not only him in Spanish, but along with David Silva, and Pelligrini at the time. He spent time with us, and signed loads of stuff for her.

My daughter has been through a hell of a lot in the last few years, but Sergio in particular has inspired her in many, many ways, giving her greater confidence and she has met many people in the public eye since and her language skills have helped her communicate and develop further. She’s even conversed with Messi, and had her Argentina shirt signed by him and Sergio!

We will always be grateful to Sergio for his great goals, especially his title winning goal and the 93.20 moment, but to me and my family, especially our daughter we will always be truly grateful to a truly humble human being, and the greatest goal scorer we have had the privilege to wear our city blue, a true LEGEND.

Muchas gracias Sergio.
Beautiful story mate, he's obviously had a massive impact on hers and your life. My Dad has dementia, was losing all interest & understanding of football (would rather sit doing a jigsaw). For a short period of time, to him, City were champions. 93:20 gave him something I honestly thought we'd never see in his lifetime. I thought if we couldn't do it then, we never would. The owners would leave. We'd be a joke. Typical City.

Obviously football is a team game, and our many amazing players all contributed, but even if we win the Treble every year for a decade, Aguero gave me something special that will never be replaced. I'd love nothing more than to be able to tell him the impact he's had on my life, my Dad's, and every City fan. Thank you Serge.

I had thought you were auditioning for Gaz Stanley & The Piccadilly Rats.

He’d given his life up for her (based elsewhere.) She was the one etc. All that crap.

I understand The Waldorf has been done up now. It was my pre-match local for years.

Women eh, can't live without them.. can't live with them (sometimes, maybe, course you can live with 'em.. It's OK, the wife's not reading this over my shoulder now..!

Definitely can live without them.. haha!! )

We've all been there P, once smitten, straight thinking goes out of the window..!

Take it your mate is OK now time has past..!

Ask him if he remembers my dancing, that'll make him laugh for sure..!

It’s amazing how a match can bring so many memories of your times and the friends you made. It’s about far more than 90 minutes of football.

All my dad’s family are Swansea fans. I had to buy about five programmes as they considered them collectors items.

The Summer we signed him I was in Spain with a rag mate. There was a one hour programme all about Sergio. I told my mate that he was to be our new striker. "Fuck off",was his reply.

My immediate thought was "WTF WAS THAT??" as I really really wasn't used to something like that happening when it involved a City player - it was quite similar in aspects to his lost cause chase v Villa at the weekend.

I was also in the family stand that day....wow, wouldn't swap that experience for anything I don't think.

I mirror your thoughts re: the villa chase/pull back, plus your location at 93:20. Was slap being in the middle, 4th row. Ate both of those goals like I was Paddy Kenny.
Except mine came with relish!
