AJ Corner King

Barry's free-kicks against Everton were poor, but for me he's the best crosser of a ball at the club

Under mancini he no longer takes corners..........possibly because that would expose our midfield to a breakaway from a corner

We had had loads of goals off corners this season.

2 in a match v Fulham also.

My only concern for AJ is his size.

I don't think it's a problem, although he's skinny he's hardly a midget and he puts himself about. I actually think his size has been very good for us in that he's given us a bit of extra physical presence as he's come in for Sweep

Got to see him tested more against the better teams before we can tout him for a world cup place. I'm glad he's getting in ahead of Sweep though for multiple reasons, some of which are related to being on the pitch and some that aren't

Hes got the talent already and hes getting more and more confident each game he plays for us.
Over the summer we should put him on an exercise program for him to bulk up a little. If he had power to his game he would be an awsome player for us for years which i have no doubts he will be anyway.
Lack of bulk never held back SWP during his first spell with us. A strong gust of wind would have blown him off down Ashton New Road.

It is nice to have a natural good corner taker for once, but this season we've improved anyway. Off the top of my head I can think of goals we've scored off SWP, Barry and Bellamy corners.

definitely, boy needs a few pounds of muscle,
nothing extreme, maybe 2 to 5 kilos, add power to ahis silky skills and blistering pace,

this boy is the real deal.

should also have had an exercise programme for robinho

I was thinking that yesterday. We are normally shit off corners but we scored off three, its about time we had a set peice wizard and this lad is gonna be vital in our future me thinks!

I see we are going OTT again. Very good corners they were no doubt but let's not forget that he has taken corners before at City and we didn't score from them and in fact a few didn't clear the front man.
I doubt there's a corner-taker anywhere in the world that delivers the ball on a sixpence 100% of the time. We are just celebrating the fact that we seem to have someone who can achieve such deliveries at least some of the time. Be happy with that; it's not much to ask.

Fantastic , acceptance that it's some of the time and he isn't a god yet!
Let's get it right he has a lot of quality but as yet he hasnt done it all that consistently for us.There have been games or parts of games ( Chelsea being a great example) where he has been largely anonymous.

That quality will mature and I expect he will be a very very good player for us but for the moment I would prefer not to go OTT.

The piece of play that amazed me the most was the way he manipulated the ball to make room for his shot that hit the post after about 3 mins. The back-heel from Tevez was a great one, but even so, it wasn't perfectly into AJ's path. He managed to stab the side of the ball with the outside of his left foot to bring it under his control when it looked like the ball was running away from him, before doing exactly the same thing again to create space for the shot. Watch it again on the OS. It was amazing ball control at such high speed and with players taking swipes at him while he did it. He's going to be quality for us for many years this kid. He's special. He just needs to continue believing in himself and understand that he deserves to be playing alongside the likes of Tevez and Ade. Once he settles in fully and gets over feeling a little starstruck (which i'm sure he will be feeling... anyone would when you are in your early 20's and have only recently been playing in The Championship), he'll be phenominal.

I am not sure why you feel the need to make unsubstantiated inferences about SWP. If AJ is currently the better option [as he seems to be to me], then so be it. If you are referring to Shaun's father, then just say so. Shaun is as committed to the club as any other professional could be in 2010. I obviously know him in a non-footballing capacity and of some of his off field activities. Personally, I think that all footballers are overpaid and under-educated. They are certainly not clever enough to have made the world the way it is. You can dislike a politician for multiple reasons. Disliking a footballer can only be for a simple reason. What's yours?
