Wants to redistribute the wealth in the world a noble cause despite using the hoax of climate change as the quickest means of achieving it , i.e using panic and fear on models that mean nothing in the scheme of things that are designed to monitor past trends in global atmospheric temperature least of all are meaningless in predicting future trends.

A hypocrite in the extreme in terms of his own carbon footprint as are all those that sit on the left of the political spectrum.

Like Y2K history will demonstrate to all and sundry that climate change was one big hoax but if it makes the poor a little less poor and the rich a little less rich then he would achieve his outcome so long as he got very wealthy spruiking about it which he has of course in his quest for the " inconvenient falsehood " that was once the greenhouse effect , then became global warming , now is termed climate change ( FFS ) and eventually will disappear into the ether never to be spoken again in less than 100 years time.

More sex scandals will come out of the latest love in in Poland than anything constructive in terms of world poverty.

Wouldn't be surprised if they invited Beyonce and Jay Z to go all ape shit on stage.

Rather than go nuclear and keep building coal fire power stations here in OZ we want to ensure our electricity prices remain the highest in the world on this zany crusade to power our houses and streets etc with renewables.

I wonder if this includes his own?

Yes, an overall decent guy (as much as politicians can be.) My guess is the hot tub bit and massage parlors trips were probably too much for Tipper though.

Climate change is a hoax? Is the world really flat?

Climate change is a hoax?
It may very well turn out to be complete bollocks, in that it may prove to have fuck all to do with anthropogenic CO2. And at the very least, it's almost certainly way over-hyped. What's depressing is people who know absolutely fuck all about it, banging on about what we MUST do or the world will end. It's like Mrs Miggins from the pie shop advising on parameter settings for the Advanced Hadron Collider.

And what is undeniably true is that Al Gore started this bandwaggon well before there was any scientific consensus any firm conclusions. It is above all else, a political movement.

You've a keen insight into science and - in particular - into climate change.

I'm very interested in your peer-reviewed scientific publications. Please let me know where I can read them.

Lovely weather in Melbourne

And then there's you - who knows fuck-all and yet feel mysteriously confident in ignoring those who do know. This is what's depressing.

On a related topic, how did climate change evolve into a topic radically opposed by die-hard conservatives?

My guess?

Jobs in coal/gas/oil production - and indeed high paying jobs are of course highly desired - especially by those employed in one of these fields.

An attack on coal/gas/oil is seen as an attack an ones livelihood by those employed in these industries.

Into the mix - heavy lobbying by mega-rich fossil fuel firms - and you've got a political winner in denying climate change. Or that it's at all related to fossil fuels. Or that we can do anything about it.

What I love about the whole thing is how the deniers keep shifting their argument. It was captured perfectly in the latest season of South Park.

The interesting thing about it, if you haven't seen it, is that Trey Parker and Matt Stone were originally climate change deniers and did a whole episode taking the piss out of Al Gore for making up a problem to make himself famous. And then this season, they basically did a double part episode apologizing to him for taking the piss and admitting that they were wrong.

As a result of over population and Climate Change the demand for water in Melbourne is due to exceed supply in less than 10 years - we'll see if you think its a problem or not then.

First time they've ever even come close to apologising, although they still took the piss relentlessly, the Amazon episode was interesting as well.

No, what's really depressing is jumped up people on forums leaping to conclusions when they know fuck all about who they are talking to.

It's honestly too bad that you'll be dead in 70 years or so. I wish that you were not.

Moreover, I'd further hope that you lived in a coastal region - so as to reap the full benefit of your ignorance.

And if I'm feeling particularly mean, I'd hope that you live for 170 years or more. And that climate policy doesn't change. With any luck, I'm dead when the methane hydrates are eventually released into the atmosphere.
===
Or, actually, you know what? Maybe I'm wrong. I do not know you at all.

Maybe - just maybe - you are in fact an expert in climate science.

If so, please post your peer-reviewed publications so that I may come to see the wisdom of your views.

Or more likely, I'm bang on - you know fuck all about climate change. And honestly, I don't either.

But I'm not the one denying the overwhelming opinion of those who do know.

Rather I'm a fairly knowledgeable lay person who cannot for the life of me see any reason whatsoever why the scientific community overwhelming thinks that climate change is real and that it is largely driven by CO2 emissions due to human activities - and yet you, for some reason, feel sanguine in believing otherwise.

That virtually every single democratic government - lead by scientific research - has concluded exactly this - I find it frankly astonishing that you still deny what's going on.

How many more 100-year flood events, world breaking hurricanes, unprecedented fires, thermal images from space about ocean warming, increased CO2 levels in the air/sea, die off of species, massive shrinkage of glaciers, etc. for you to actually get a fucking clue?

And here's the thing - the world isn't even at equilibrium at the moment. As bad as things are now, even if humans magically somehow stopped all CO2 emissions, it's going to get far worse.

But carry on... as the Chinese say - I hope you live in interesting times.

You're wasting your fingers typing anything in response to Chippy about climate change. The guy couldn't give a fuck. He's just happy in his own little world and that's all that matters to him.
