Post here from a fan of a different football team.
I was at a home match when Man City visited (in March 1996?) and heard one of the best songs to the tune of Wonderwall from an away end.
Self-deprecating and well themed for an evening kick off during a pretty poor match.
Have tried to find the exact lyrics but it went something like:

"Today is gonna be the day that we're going to division 2..."
....
"...And after all, you're my Alan Ball".

This was when Alan Ball was manager and correctly predicted MC's relegation.

Would someone be able to help me with the rest of the lyrics please?

"All the runs that Kinky makes are winding
and all the goals that City score are blinding.."

Hahaha even though there's very little to celebrate about the Alan Ball period I've always loved this chant. I remember our milkman teaching it me when I was a kid, I'd have been about 9.

Every time they play Wonderwall at the end of the game at the Etihad I try to get this going and I've only ever had weird confused looks.

I was convinced maybe I'd made the whole thing up but it's good to know someone else remembers this chant!

and please don't put your team in the haaanddss
of a ginger haired mannnnn
he'll throw it all away
I just found the last few lines now...

And all the runs that Kinky makes are winding
And all the goals that City score are blinding
There are many times that we would like to score again
But we don't know how
'Cos maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
And after all
You're my Alan Ball

Is your addition lines 2 & 3 please?

Summerbee the word is on the street
That the fire in your heart is out.

Wasn't there a line about Eike Immell ?

Edit And Eike your gonna be the one thatv saves me
Cos after all we've got Alan Ball
