Alan Dzagoev

You couldn't get a truer ALAN than Dzagoev.

He is ethnically an Ossete, from the tragic city of Beslan.

The Ossetes, who speak a language related to Persian, are descended from an ancient people known as the ALANS.

aaand another goal. the kid is playing quite decent lately, that is for sure. we're talking Nasri upside but a bit more into scoring than playmaking.

Out of contract in 6 months, all the cheapskate teams like Milan, Inter, Arsenal, and the vermin will be licking their lips.

Mentioned him before? Thought not!

No, but that doesn't mean I can't if I see someone who I think could be worth a look.

Didn't say you couldn't but I remember Liverpool signing Baros, Patrik Berger and Vladimír Šmicer based on decent tournaments.

Didn't Spuds sign Ardiles and Villa on the basis of a tournament? Although I agree that there is a lot that have been based on performance in a tournament and have been crap buys.

no he isn't. not a world beater yet, but the potential is really right there. most exciting prospect from Russia since Arshavin yet interestingly is not lazy at all.
Hauled off, not touched the ball second half, shite.

I remember the days when the word shite held meaning.

He looks a decent prospect, not sure if we would sign him though.

Roman Shirokov has impressed me so far, decent holding midfield player and he makes good passes and smart runs forward. Nice finish vs. Czech Republic to.

Shirokov has had the best season for a Russian footballer since Arshavin's first at Arsenal and is currently the most valuable player in the national team, no doubt. too bad that he's already 30, the man is desperate to have a chance at a European club but will probably never be given. i, for one, love his game, he is absolutely dominant in Russia and has some of the strongest personality you could expect from a football player these days.

Nedved was 29 when Juventus payed a huge fee for him and look how many great years he gave them. Shirokov is a late bloomer, I bet he goes on to have another 4, 5, maybe even 6 good years.

Sunderland signed Asamoah Gyan and Liverpool signed El Hadj Diouf after good tournaments too! Dzagoev looks a good player though, I must confess that I hadn't seen him play before the Euros but his name was familiar to me.

You can be sure that any player at the Euros who looks a good prospect will already have been looked at by our scouts, so I wouldn't expect any knee-jerk signings off the back off this tournament. If we do sign someone like Dzagoev, you can be sure that it would have happened had they had a good European Championships or not.
