Alan Green

Yep, he's a cantankerous bastard Green. Makes it sound like watching football for a living is a chore. Agree that Nevin is great though.

In a curious way I'm impressed at how he's under the bizarre impression that his opinion is an extremely important one. I do miss the delightful way Jimmy Armfield would gently put him down with a long pause after one of his complaints followed by "Well..."

I don't normally go in for pundit / media bashing but have long thought Green is a bore.

He must have one of the most privileged jobs in world sports media yet he makes every game same sound like some inconvenience he has to sit through.

I listened to the match on 5 live last night and to Alan Greens comments about the atmosphere. You could at times hear the crowd but I think that they have a soundproof box that subdues the sound from the terraces as it was eerily quiet throughout the game in respect of their broadcast.
He mentioned the lack of atmosphere several times as he always does.
Likes the sound of his own voice. Wish he would just stick to a commentary of the game.

The most odious self-opinionated of any commentator whoever drew breath. Throwaway comments that politicians would be proud of, and were he ever nailed down in front of a set of fans he would plead the age-old excuse of being taken out of context. "Manchester City? Chamnpions' League? Don't make me laugh!" We understand perfectly the context and nobody in Europe is laughing now, yer fat slug. He should be well up the list, if not top by a mile, of people who shouldn't be offered any space, time or hospitality at The Etihad.

They don't have a soundproof box. They're in the open area where the rest of the media are.
