Don't do what I did. I bought my 11 year old a few albums before we went away using my ITunes account. Justin Bieber, Hannah Montana and the like. I synced my iPhone the day we went to save the contacts and all the bloody albums transferred as well. Doesn't look good when you sat by the pool with your iPod dock trying to look cool in front of the obviously impressed watching 18 year olds when all of a sudden the best of Glee follows New Order.
