Manchester City v Manchester United: Police extend alcohol exclusion zone
Greater Manchester Police are to impose a widescale alcohol exclusion zone and increase patrols in Manchester city centre in an effort to prevent Saturday's local derby suffering a repeat of the crowd disturbances that marred January's Carling Cup semi-final first-leg at Eastlands.

A few at home with breakfast, a few before setting off, and a few bottles to take with in the car for the 20 minute journey (im not driving btw )

Does that mean Mary Ds probably won't be open then?

Balls. That's our plans out the window.

I think it refers to drinking in the street or outside. I'm fairly sure most pubs will be open baring the ones around Piccadilly station.

Planned for a big brekkie in an half empty Wetherspoons as all planes will hopefully still be grounded fronm Dublin

CALM DOWN KIDDAS the alcohol exclusion zone only means no drinking on the streets. every pub will be open and beer garden will be open it only applies to driking in the streets which will be banned near the ground. and if caught alcohol will be confiscated and if you hand it over no problems

!

Would this be the disturbances that happened when the GMP let the GaY Army out of the ground at the same time as us then sat back and watched as they marched down the middle of Ashton New Road taunting all and sundry?

Just spoke to Danny Wilson at the club and alcohol will be available in the stadium and those pubs which choose to open. The Telegraph article is just an old story being regurgitated - there is a byelaw which has been in existence since 2003 and prohibits the consumption of alcohol on the street near the ground. Word of warning though, the police might be extra vigilant tomorrow with people who are shitfaced on their way into the ground.
