Congratulations to Boris Johnson for yesterday, I actually think he is getting a tough time on here.... are we all in a bad mood or something?

He was elected with the promise to get Brexit done, he got it done.

Then Corona came along and nobody could forsee that and it nearly killed him by-the-way.

There were mistakes along the way, I accept that - but there are a number of reasons the UK has suffered from this pandemic more than other places and I presume people are familiar with them. I also want to know why China has had such an easy ride, especially given this news over the weekend:

"Reports that British agents believe it is “feasible” the coronavirus pandemic began with a leak from a Chinese research laboratory in Wuhan have led to renewed calls for the World Health Organisation (WHO) to be allowed to fully investigate the origins of the outbreak."

So what if his fiancé spent stupid money on crap wallpaper for a house that they don't actually own and probably wont be living in, in a few years from now? I don't care a jot about that - I do care that my elderely parents are now fully vaccinated against Corona (as am I) which probably wouldn't have happened if that Corbyn fella had won in 2019 because a) we'd probably not have got Brexit done, they'd still be arguing about a 'peoples vote' or something - and make no mistake being out of the EU has helped us get those vaccines out there. Or b) had we had the vaccines, he'd have wanted to give them away to poorer parts of the world, even though we invented one of them!

See:

"In an eerie insight into what might have been Britain's coronavirus strategy if Mr Corbyn had won the general election just over a year ago, the former Labour leader attacked the UK and others for purchasing high stocks of life-saving Covid jabs. The proud socialist said Britain and other prosperous nations should limit their supplies to help increase the number of jabs available for poorer countries across the globe."

P.S. The one thing that saddens me though, is how he has fallen out with Dominic Cummings. Without him Brexit wouldn't have happened and without Boris on the side of leave, it wouldn't have happened either. But now Cummings is moaning from the sidelines - about the virus and how it was handled, even though he was advising the Government at its height - in some form of petty revenge scheme, after he himself was ejected. Shame really.

That’s the way, pal. Poor Boris has had a tough ride for not bothering to lockdown which actually led to himself getting COVID. Not having a plan or refusing to make clear policies was just an oversight and the wallpaper he picked, paid for by one of the many benefactors during this period is all, well, irrelevant.

Oh, and by us being greedy and keeping all the vaccinations so we can open up earlier is one of the reasons that places like India are in such trouble, leading us to not closing the boarder to them until it was too late and the strain reaching these shores. Again, probably just an oversight on his part but that’s OK, just like all those older ladies and gentlemen who were promised an iron clad guarantee that they’d be safe.

I realise this isn't a constructive response but

Fuck me

One of the many points to take issue with - neither she ( nor he for that matter) paid a penny for any wall paper - thats been just one of his issues. I shan't waste my time burning the rest of your post.

Well that is your opinion, you are entitled to it.... as am I, with mine.

We were greedy keeping all the vaccines (that we invented) and that is why India is in trouble.... well I've not heard that one before. More likely they are a highly populated country with many of the type of people Covid is known to go after, so don't try to blame us for the India nightmare, look at this:

The Ganges - mid-April

On the lockdowns, he was getting conflicting advice - he couldn't win. (If you read my post, I did say some mistakes had been made).

Closing the borders - that is impossible in this day and age and you know it. Last year I did advocate that, after all we are an island and it should have given us an advantage during a global pandemic and then I saw the boats arriving on the south coast - many more than ever before and I thought, this is hopeless. Or do you think we should have just pushed them back to France or got the navy to sink them, as you seem to have all the good ideas.... probably not if you are on Corbyn's side, vis-a-vis vaccine nationalism.

Finally - the care-home issue, as I said mistakes were made and I suppose it will all come out when the enquiry takes place, but did Boris cause Corona..... no it started in China in what we are now learning could be dubious circumstances. We should be criticising that country, their leaders - not our own.

Furthermore & I'm not going to look up the exact stats now, but do you remember a few weeks ago when a pub landlord threw Keir Starmer out of his pub ("Get out of my fucking pub!") - the point he was making is this: the average age of people succumbing to corona is 83. The average age of death in Britain (before covid came along) was 82. He told Starmer: 'you've fucked the countries economy for the sake of some people who have already lived their lives'. I was shocked when I heard that and didn't totally agree, because it's all very well shouting statistics, but if it had been my parent's.... well...... and some of those 83 year olds will have been somebody's parents. But it is a valid point. Did we do a Sweden - NO, we did lockdown (possibly a week too late), Rishi Sunak did put in place the furlough scheme. Investment was made in vaccines, right at the start and now we see light at the end of the tunnel - fingers crossed.

Its not been perfect, but it could have been worse and as I said, I'm pretty sure it would have been under the other lot.
