So in his new years speach he can name as brexit success
The Crown back on pint glasses - never noticed or cared they wasn't
You can sell stuff in pounds and ounces - no one ever stopped.

A trivial man boasts about his trivial achievements with a misplaced and deluded grandeur because he needs to be relevant to salve his own ego

Even Dim Tim isn't impressed about the Crown on glasses:

Tim Martin, the Brexiteer chairman of the Wetherspoons pub chain, told The Telegraph: “I certainly have no objection to this. But even the most hardened monarchist will find it hard to get excited".

It was in any case just another daft anti-EU story, the sort that paved the way for Brexit. From the Evening Standard, 2012:

The Campaign for Real Ale (Camra) said the use of the crown stamp has been killed off by stealth, regardless of EU rules, as a direct result of the contraction of British manufacturing.

The manufacture of most pint and half-pint glasses has been shifted to the Czech Republic, where costs are much lower. Consequently, the glasses coming out of these factories automatically get the CE mark, even if they are an imperial pint.

Camra is more concerned that beer drinkers have been getting short measures on their pints for many years, regardless of whether the glasses have a crown stamp.

It didn't stop the Standard running the headline: "EU stealing the crown of the great British pint".

Goes some way to make up for the billions in lost exports.

Shankar Singham (on the Trade and Agriculture Commission, and CEO of Competere - he owns it) came up with a gem this morning on the Farming Today programme (looking at 2022)...

Re the enormous power of the supermarkets over farmers - "we need to have a more pro-competetive policy in that area, because there is significant buyer power in the UK, which has not been helpful to our primary producers".

Now what could be more pro-competetive than supermarkets using their buying power to pay lower prices for produce? Competition works both ways.

Here's Shankar's neutral interests:

Key figure in Tory Brexit talks owns firm giving advice on EU exit | Brexit | The Guardian

Oh, and his advice on Brexit negotiating included, "Don’t take your leverage away by ruling out walking away (i.e. exiting on WTO terms) or not communicating preparedness for no deal to other side, handing over the full £39bn or agreeing to a backstop". A mate of the Bloviator?

From the same prog: 30,000 pigs culled so far, not gone in the food chain.

I watched the video on the local news that supports this BBC report - in it they delivered a bag of food and toiletries to a lady who came to the door wearing her coat - as were the 3 kids visible behind her. They talk about a choice between eating or heating well for some like that lady the choice is easy. Neither. I hope Johnson is so proud of the Britain he and his party have created.
