I think the Met were very " lenient" with Johnson and FPNs, as was Sue Gray.

He knew he was breaking the rules and he knew those in No 10 were breaking the rules, because Johnson set the standards.

I pray now that the committee nail him on all charges and the house has the balls to vote in favour of their recommendations and we rid this liar from Parliament forever.
Cressida dick went easy on him as payback for keeping her in her job numerous times , there were plenty of photos of him at other parties that he didnt get fined for , she picked the least offensive one to fine him for

Found that so weird that I googled it and Starmer said in response to a really stupid question that a woman is an adult female included people who have legally completed transition. Not sure how that translates into him not knowing the definition of a woman. Just shows the power of the media where certain elements of it can make people believe any old shite.
The Times did an opinion panel session and one voter said completely incorrectly, and was unchallenged, that the Parties were irrelevant because Starmer got fined for going to one too.

We know this all too well at first hand.
All those who call City guilty of cheating because we got fined, and they can’t be bothered to actually find out what the fine was for.
Minds made up- believe what you want to believe. never let your opinions be swayed or influenced by such trivia as…..facts.

People in the main vote for the Tory party of old who could be trusted not to “lie“ they had a different ideology to the Labour Party.
The problem now is TV interfering in political debate. Homelessness today but tomorrow something else.

Or simply better at concealing matters, à la Dugdale.

I had to look Dugdale up as I really can’t remember the 1950’s :) Elvis and rock and roll but yes they were better at concealing deceit from the public.

Dugdale resigned before he was officially found out unlike modern day politicians who brazenly carry on until forced to quit.

Or don't bother quitting as they know they will get away with it anyway?

They say you get less militant about politics as you get older, the opposite happened with me!! I used to make sure I always voted and looked at the differing parties but only ever got involved in my union, supporting our members and was I suppose laissez faire about it all. Nowadays I get more annoyed and more wound up as I see the injustices in the world, especially here in Britain. Sorry.

Perhaps they were more honourable if not necessarily honest, if that is not too fine a distinction. Of course then, the majority of politicians and public servants had gone through and served in the war, so they had a sense of duty that was greater than to the self.

Yes after the war they promised to make Britain fit for heroes and for a couple of decades they tried.
1970 was the start of a return towards the sell off of all the things I valued “Privatisation” 60 years of rowing back on promises

what has to be remembered what with Mogg, Dorries etc calling it a Kangaroo Court etc what has to be remembered is that when the Speaker invited views from the floor of the House nobody - not one MP - raised an objection which is why it went to the Committee shows they all thought he was done for back then but that he had the guile to get around it. The 2 shit shows on Wednesday - his performance then a limp half arsed coup against Brexit where only 20 Tory hardliners voted with him against Sunaks accord means - Lord Adonis famously said Johnson has to fall for Brexit to fall so they have one thing left to do now - thats attack the process in a desperate bid to save him
