The WHO had described it as the biggest possible threat on Jan 30th. Around the same time, his scientific advisers were saying it would infect the vast majority of the country. So maybe he gets a pass for missing the first meeting but the following four?
I read the Sunday Times and was shocked. Then read this and it didn't seem nearly as bad.

Whether he was right to miss the meetings or not I guess we'll find out in time. Whether it had an impact on decision making or not I doubt it.

Who says labour would do a better job ? Labour is brought up by those who won't put together an honest assessment of the gods handling of this situation,as I said, labour should not be in this discussion,it is a totally guess if they would have been better if worse
It's the only response they have to people questioning Boris' handling of the situation:

"Corbyn would have been worse".

Corbyn's chopped liver, completely irrelevant to the discussion.

So after reading most of the political threads including the brexit one it seems there’s a pattern emerging.
Everyone who doesn’t vote Conservative blames them for everything.
Everyone who votes Conservatives blames everyone but the Conservatives but are adamant that things would be worse under Labour.
Nobody it seems on either side is willing to give a little leeway and look at things objectively.
Being unwilling to point out your party of choice is in any way culpable for mistakes made kind of makes the whole political thread a waste of time. No inch is ever given. Which is a shame.

Interesting, will read it fully later.

I just can't believe he'd be giving speeches in February boasting about how we'd never lockdown while other countries panicked and boasting about shaking hands with COVID patients in March had he been to the meetings he should have attended.

There's plenty of Labour supporters I've seen who thought Corbyn was completely unelectable.

I've not really seen much "Labour would be handling this better" rhetoric.

I do think there's been a robust questioning of how Boris has handled this. But I've yet to see one of his supporters hold their hands up and say mistakes have been made.

It just turns in to a binary argument - Tories good, Corbyn bad. It's not even a debate, it's just deflection away from debate.

This isn't an argument it's just the automatic gainsaying of anything I say

Had a quick glance, it seems fairly thorough to be fair but will need a full reading to make sure.

Care homes are homes. People live there. The clue is in the home bit? And I didn't say that was the government's message.

As for the bit about DNRs, I didn't ignore that at all. Any article you read on the subject includes that detail. The point is that people in homes are saying there was an unusually big drive to get people to to sign them en masse.
As did a go practise who wrote to old and sick patients and told them they would not ge t admitted to Hosp so they should consider a DNR,shocking

Total guesses is the default for many on this forum so i dont really see any issue?

I am not a tory, but was supportive at the start until it was clear we were going the wrong way,i even said a few times I am glad labour is not in charge,it has all gone tit S up and as I have said before we wasted out time advantage, who should I talk about when talking about herd immunity, mass gatherings going on way too long, not protecting the vulnerable from the start and PPE ?
