If the replies here are anything to go by, the backlash is likely to be a tsunami.
Will the BBC be showing tributes tonight?
Yep. With an 80 seat majority, he should've been well set for at least 2 terms in office.Has no one else to blame other than himself for blowing what should have been a long term in power.
Good riddance
There is nothing to stop the deputy PM taking over temporarily. Johnson is a busted flush.
The Tories got 44% of the popular vote. The fact this is widely considered to be a ‘strong mandate‘ shows the doublethink at play in our utterly broken political system. It's also buying time. He ain't gone yet. Constitutional crisis looming. Rees Mog and Johnson both quoting Presidential style mandates for PM. Very slippery slope.
Steve Baker says differently. Jeez i just hope he doesn't get to be pm. He's on TV now spouting bullshitSometimes, the country’s immediate need transcends what is good for any opposition. This is one of the things Tories are blind to.
Johnson had to go asap to try and protect what is left of out international standing and resuscitate morality and truth.
His leaving also stops the bullshit about Brexit getting done and we can now begin to have adult conversations as to how best to stop the financial bleeding from it and discuss how not to break international law.
Agree we need sensible heads which is why Johnson has to go now.Nor is there anything that states the deputy PM would take over either - we don’t have a written constitution. Putting aside peoples dislike of Johnson we need sensible heads - the world is in crisis and we don’t need to temporarily put a new person in charge - it would add to the chaos. The process will happen, he’s gone. Ben Wallace please.
Mad Nads for 3 months ?

Again, yes, you are. The country needs grown up leadership as soon as possible.Am I missing something.
Whats the big rush for a replacement.
It's not as though there is going to be a General Election or something.
It will just be a different face pursuing similar policies.
If the new PM makes a half decent job of it and let’s face it it will be hard to do worse it’s going to increase the Tory vote well in time for the next Election.
You need to be more worried as to whether Starmer is going to come good.
I just hope he is not found guilty regarding beergate.
ERG and CRG tactics are part of why Boris ended up hamstrung and in a spin. Plus he's likely to lose his seat.Bloke is another duplicitous ****. I doubt he’d run though.
You're missing the fact that we have a lying narcissist as PM and irrespective of what happens at the next election it's not a good idea to have someone who only has credibility with thick morons and is a laughing stock around the world in charge of the country.Am I missing something.
