Alexandole Boris de Pfeffel Johnson

Unlike you, I care more about the country, not my favourite party.

The Tories. The fake patriotic party.

Only give a shit about themselves.
So your happy to see your favourite party disadvantaged for your principles.
Not many like you in politics, you need to wise up if you want to be elected.

I don’t think many realise this.
If someone else comes in and does a half decent job there is only 1 Party going to benefit at the next election and I think we can safely say it’s not the Party that most posters support on here.
You are assuming that they have someone decent to come in and a decent job can be done.

Boris is leaving a mess. Brexit is a disaster and they have no real direction. That is where they are 6 months out from a very bleak looking winter. Inflation and or recession.

Add to that the fact all the big players have shamed themselves with suppoting BJ and his BS and the future does not look good for tories.

May resigned 24th May Boris appointment 23rd July. Parliament in recess 22 July till 1st Sept
The country should not be stymied by one party's procedure. Outgoing PM suggests to HMQ someone to succeed, HMQ can invite anyone who can command a majority.

Rabb has already got his team assembled to take over government

I think quite a few people realise this point.
Despite having the worst leader ever I was hoping he would cling to power. That’s all Starmer would have to do was put his feet up and have a cigar until the next election.
I would now expect a radical change in the leadership (obviously) and Starmer may need to accentuate Labour policy as opposed to cherry picking the numerous examples of incompetence.
Correct. Starmer is going to have to go up several gears.
Boris was a sitting duck for him.
Starmer is going to have to fight on policy not personality going forward
Next Tory Leader is not going to be someone laddish who mumbles his way through answers.

is He still awaiting a verdict from Durham police ?, if so that’s some investigation

To what end though mate? He won’t be able to get any new policy through. If he is unable to form a cabinet then I’d concur with you but in the absence of that it seems like creating chaos for the sake of it. On the international stage Johnson has actually done ok (ignoring Brexit, particularly the furore with the NI protocol for a minute), with the Ukraine war the world needs continuation not more chaos or crisis. What this country, or the world, doesn’t need is some leadership hopeful taking the reigns and using it as an leadership campaign.

He’s gone. Rejoice at that.
To have someone in charge who is in touch with reality. It's really not a good idea having someone running the country whose only priority is himself especially at a time the country is facing a cost of living crisis made worse by government incompetence.

That's my point recess in 2 weeks replacement should be in place by return.

Respectfully - no, you don’t. You believe your political leanings are for the good of the country but that doesn’t make you automatically right, nor does it make you automatically wrong. You just have an opinion - the same as the rest of us - but to make out you care more about the country than someone else is a bit wank.

I don’t think this helps the opposition.
Possibly not, although there's hardly an abundance of outstanding candidates lined up to replace him. Suella Braverman and Steve Baker the first to throw their hats into the ring, god help us. The leadership election could yet further divide the Conservative party too.

That might depend on who comes in, putting my own politics aside, I want what’s best for the country now, first and foremost.
it's a divided country, two-party politics means what one hates the other loves. throw in the London versus the rest, the old v young, inherited wealth v renters, expoiters v exploited, it becomes the least worse is what you are forced to choose. f'kin mess.

It's also buying time. He ain't gone yet. Constitutional crisis looming. Rees Mog and Johnson both quoting Presidential style mandates for PM. Very slippery slope.
Obviously there’s a line to tread between leaving at the earliest opportunity and ensuring some continuity of government, but I think he’ll go in the next month or so.

I simply don’t think it’s feasible for a caretaker government to remain in place until October (the party conference in October 2 - 5), as major fiscal policy decisions will need to be taken in the next couple of months and the Conservative Party can’t afford to sit on their hands, doing nothing, until Johnson finally goes.

In particular, the next OFGEM price hike in October will be a very significant issue and it will be catastrophic for the Tories to be seen as arguing between themselves ahead of this and fighting internal battles, rather than offering any concrete policy measures to offset it. Basically, they can’t afford to doing nothing for the next three months at the expense of the country’s interests and I think we’ll have a leadership contest relatively soon.
