I understand why you might think this way but I disagree. Some of the most ardent Republicans I know are Mexican people who've made a success of their lives having moved here. Yes the Party elite , Graham, McConnell, and their ilk are vile bogoted POS's but at the grass rt level I see a way more varied group
Yeah. I see they were at the Trump rally last night.
Seriously though no one is arguing that all Republican voters or supporters are white and male. I am pointing out Republicans play the identity politics card and that is based on an identity that is white and male. Even the media panders to it with the ‘American heartlands’ and the ‘American working class’. Both representations are white. The American working class is not a black waitress in LA it’s a white guy doing a physical manual job. A steel worker. A miner. When Democrats are accused of abandoning the ‘working class’ this is who they mean not a Latino woman holding down two jobs to support her family. For Republicans, Latino women and other groups should be neither seen nor heard and certainly not represented.
And if they are to be represented then it should be done quietly and not be outspoken or highly visible which is why AOC and others cause so much hostility. They are playing by their own rules not the rules laid down for them. They are unrepentant and fight back and it’s marvellous to watch. I may not agree with everything they say but I enjoy them saying it nonetheless.
