Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

Very infrequently, and with zero equivalence to its frequency of use towards women.

Even when used against men, no matter how rarely, it is still a derogatory slam on women!
I know they have different meanings but it’s still used as an insult to both.

I watch enough American TV to know.

Your last line is humorous, you must have been wrapped in cotton wool your whole life.

Do think it's racist to refer a person's ethnicity alongside an insult?
You know full well it’s totally different.

If someone pulls out on you it’s common to say “what are you doing man” or “what are you doing woman”.

Gender is also written into our common language with pronouns.

Bringing ethnicity into a conversation doesn’t need to happen, you can’t get away from describing someone using gender.

It can be, but it's different. Biological sex is the basis of natural identification, picking on a particular characteristic is wilfully targeting it. Besides it's the nuance of language, saying "women are stupid" is sexist, calling someone a "stupid woman" or "stupid man" isn't.

Get with the programme, all white men are sexist racists, who are handed everything they could ever need at birth.

I don't, it's Axis of Awesome once sang, it's a general commentary about a non-specific girl.
She's far from stupid, but that's not the issue.

The issue here is that a sitting male House member thought it was perfectly acceptable to make those comments to a female colleague. What's worse is he didn't even do it when he thought nobody else was listening. He was actually empowered to do it in public.

I was purely commenting on the term itself in response to other posts, not on its context in this case which wasn't appropriate for a workplace environment.
