All New Police in England and Wales Must Have Degrees

They are wanting the vast majority of applicants to already have a degree and they will accept a small minority onto a apprenticeship.

I've read it, i can read.

Its to save money and has fuck all to do with making the service better.

Even those with a degree will go on a conversion course so I cannot see how it will save money and is linked to the government directive of having to spend a certain percentage on apprenticeships.

It will save money because the police degree with be self funded by the applicant via a student loan, as will the degree conversion.

There will be a minuscule amount accepted via the apprenticeship as well you know and they go on to endorse the plan by showing tables with other professions and the costs of gaining the degree needed so why not them?

Its a money saving proposal wanting the public to basically pay for their own training lol.

Nursing has always been stressful and with staff shortages so that is not new, basic care is a must,i was in hospital for a couple of months and the standards for the basics has dropped a lot,not all of them but it wasn't great across the board, agency nurses generally don't want to work hard but that has always been the same.I did 20yrs so i'm not dissing nursing as a whole but it has changed a lot for sure

I think Karen there's a lot of red tape now and it's not all about nursing the amount of paperwork she brings home is unreal so she doesn't really get a day off as when she's off she's doing stuff for work if that makes sense

Taking paperwork home is crappy, sorry about that

I think degrees are vastly over-rated.
Brunel, the best engineer ever, didn't have a degree. Nor did Shakespeare.

For some professions, fair enough. But you really don't need a degree for an ordinary job like being a copper. I can't help but think a lot of this modern obsession with degrees is just a way to filter job applications. Before long, you'll need a PhD to clean the khazi!

What they forget is that people with a good degree won't join , not enough pay
Let me think errrrm I have a first class law degree shall I become a cop ( early lates nights weekends xmas etc) for 20k or a solicitor
No brainer I'm afraid

A degree, hmm, that lets out some of the uniformed knuckle draggers that I've had to deal with.
