I have not been one of Jack's biggest fans over the years but this analysis is distorted and unfair. You correctly highlight the excellent return of Semenyo but cynically pinpoint Jack's lack of goals and failure to beat opponents while downplaying what he was good at under Pep. His ability to hold on to the ball and dictate play while drawing defenders towards him was invaluable. Simply put he was asked to perform a role which differs with what we witnessed from Semenyo since his arrival. While not prolific I think his roles at Villa and indeed Everton, before injury ended his season showed a much more dynamic side to his abilities and threats. Does he deserve further consideration at City, maybe not but that will be down to the new manager. Most likely outcome I suspect will be another period out on loan although it will be interesting to see if he has recovered from injury sufficiently to make an impact on pre-season and potentially the early season games before deadline day. Clearly if a deal ius or has already been done with Everton then that's when the story ends.Look at the numbers that Grealish produced in his City career: 157 appearances, 17 goals and 21 assists.
Look at Semenyo's numbers this season:
37 appearances, 17 goals (11 for city), 4 assists, and won us the FA cup and pretty much kept us in the title race until the very end.
Semeneyo scored nearly the same amount of goals in half a season without a proper pre-season in a new squad than Jack Grealish did in his ENTIRE city career.
Jack Grealish never scored more than 7 goals or had more than 7 assists in a single City season; as a winger that is HORRENDOUS. He could barely beat his man he would hug the touchline than draw the foul or pass it back.
Not to mention his off field antics which are well documented.
The funny thing is Semeneyo has gotten more stick on here than grealish it is absolutely laughable. Similarly Sterlings stats are far superior to grealish's but he gets more stick than grealish.
Grealish was bang average and the stats prove it.
Honestly , you must be an absolute barrel of laughsEffort? ou can put in all the effort but if you aren't producing as a winger your just not good enough. There is no golden star for effort. Everyone puts in effort at the highest level.
Won more fouls? Thats laughable. That's not a valid stat. Goals and assists are what matter as a winger. Not your ability to draw fouls and certainly you don't spend 100m for someone so they can draw fouls.
I am being realistic, he was an average winger and the stats show it.
If this is true, it’ll stop the squabbling.
Probably because they’ve either jumped the gun, made it up or Maresca wants a look at Jack before allowing the sale.If this is true why is it not in the msm?
I agree, he wasn't a 100 million pound plus 300k a week winger, but I'll always believe he would have been a really great number 10.I am being realistic, he was an average winger and the stats show it.
If this is true why is it not in the msm?
Kalvin Philips says hi!If Maresca allows him back it shows bad optics to me, he was pushed out as he couldn't put the bottle down for long enough to recover from injury and get himself back in the team.
Flog him for whatever we can get and chalk it up to the biggest overspend weve ever made. PR exercise gone wrong.
Is Kalvin still with us?Kalvin Philips says hi!
Nobody really knows :-)Is Kalvin still with us?
