I expect many of us have come across these, at least once in our lives......

My story....

I travel to Malta a lot, and a few years ago, on the plane back to England, I sat next to a woman about thirty five. We started engaging in small talk, like you do, and she mentioned that she was English, lived in Malta but had married a Maltese man, who owned a small sports shop on the island.......she went on to say she was travelling back to Lancashire for her father's seventieth birthday celebrations, he was in the furniture industry, extremely well off, and was having a marquee erected in the grounds of his house.

I asked what company it was, and it turned out it was fairly local to me, and I had bought some stuff from her dad's firm on several occasions....

We arrived home, I bade her farewell, and thought no more about it.

Then, around nine months later, I was on another flight returning to Malta, and this time sat next to an older lady, and we started chatting......it turned out her husband was in the furniture business, and she was going to Malta to visit her daughter, who was married to a Maltese man who owned a small sports shop...........

This was NINE months later, there were around 250 seats on each plane, I, or they could have sat anywhere....

I said "You are not going to believe this"..............

I was just wondering when the next shit thread would appear, popped into the cellar and...................

Seen a fellow Reddish blue in a hostel on Melbourne and an old Uni mate in Queensland

More of a 'small world' thing I guess

When my cousin was in the army he got posted to Belize. He was fishing off a harbour wall and a tramp with an American accent tried to bum $5 off him. When he told him he had no money the tramp asked him where he was from. It turned out the tramp was from Heywood too and used to live about 3 streets away from him. He'd moved to America as a teenager but was deported for some reason and was now bumming his way around south America.
When he left the army he lived in Stevenage. He got talking to a homeless lad who asked him for a light. It turned out their dads worked together for 30 years. He ended up putting him up and had him as a lodger on and off for the next 20 years.

Phillip Schofield used to present a program on these years back.

I remember one where a woman tried to dial her husband's office and used the wrong number. It was actually a number to a payphone miles away from the office, where the ringing phone was picked up by a passing person who happened to be her husband
