Great documentary I watched last night. First off with the exception of a few Bad Brains songs, I hate hardcore punk. But this documentary puts the growth of the scene in the context of suburban angst during the early years of Reagan and Thatcher. Very entertaining/interesting.

Quote from the movie, "If you are looking for radicalism in the early 80's, look towards hardcore".

I love the whole DIY aspect and the ethics of early eighties punk/hardcore especially bands like Fugazi and Minor Threat.

Some of the music is great but not something I could listen to everyday.

Ian Makaye is interviewed quite a bit in the movie. Have you seen it? You would definitely enjoy it.

Na havent seen it but I'll definitly check it out.

The beeb did a programme called the '7 ages of rock' and one focused on eighties alternative scene like 'Black Flag', 'REM' and to a lesser extent 'Husker Du' and 'The Replacements', it was a pretty good watch.
