Pointing it up in the air is television stuff. From the photo I'm guessing they are not about to fire these weapons. None of them are wearing ear protection and the two males' glasses appear to be spectacles to improve their sight as opposed to ballistic protection. At that point it looks like he's teaching her to insert the magazine.

No she won't. And to prove my maths are awful I read 90 degrees as straight up in the air. Obvious, why I had to take geometry twice.
