Hello all, today I had a small bump at work, it's the rules we get tested for drugs or alcohol, I've tested positive for amphetamine, this is the second time I've tested positive for amphetamine, they get a company to come and retest and the sample (saliva) goes to a laboratory, last time they found it negative which I expected, but still its worrying,I have 100% not taken any drugs, why do I keep testing positive?

Are you taking any cough and cold stuff, supplements of any sort , anything that is not food ? Even hayfever sprays up the nose ?

Epinephrine (adrenaline) – This is added to the anaesthesia solution to increase its numbing effect. Vasoconstrictor – This narrows your blood vessels and makes the numbness last longer. Sodium chloride – This allows the drugs to be absorbed into your blood. Sodium hydroxide – This makes the numbing drug work

Panic over. A simple Google search shows that many common treatments for erectile disfunction and premature ejeculation cause false positives like this, as well as common broad spectrum antibiotics used to treat std's.

Either a dodgy test (the tester contaminated the test by accident, or the test was already contaminated), or you've taken something that may give a false positive.

Do you trust the person who tested you followed procedures, or didn't contaminate the test?

Well either:

1) The test is dodgy and you're the unlucky one - can happen but rare
2) You're taking some meds
3) You're on some sort of slimming pill
4) You are actually taking amphetamines in some way
