I've never been to the Dam before so does anyone know if there will be a big meet up point?

I know there is Dam square but the police can sometimes get a bit arsey with big groups of football fans, especially in the tourist areas. Does anyone know if them rag turds were allowed to congrigate there last year?

A group of us are there for 3 days so can anyone recomend anything worth seeing or doing? Obviously the brass, but is there anything else?

Im there monday night to thursday night flying out from Liverpool and staying in the White tulip.

Think there was a thread about a meet up 2 different squares to choose from

The doesn't need to be a "meet", it's Amsterdam, a hedonist's paradise, and a place which has been catering for thousands of out-of-it English for decades.

If you want to meet other blues for a laugh and a sing song the REd Light District is where you will find it. But it's a City with a lot to offer if you want to do some sightseeing. The Art Galleries are good, Anne FRank's House is OK. Even the Canal Cruises are quite interesting. Rembrantsplein and Leidseplein are squares worth visiting, both walking distance apart.

From my point of view it's a city where you can just drift. In the centre you're never more than a minute from a bar, a coffee shop, a cafe or a restaurant. Just choose your pleasures sensibly and tactically, chill and drift around soaking it up. Have a spliff by the canal, then go for a pancake somewhere. Wander up and down the red light district having a laugh and taking it in. Stop for a pint or two, then just get off for a bit taking more in.

There's a lot more to Amsterdam that prostitutes. It's a top place.

sums it up perfectly
I'd certainly have a wander well away from Central Station, and would avoid the big squarfes for most of the day. The beer and smke around there is very expensive.
The place is made for mooching about. Smoke, drink, eat, smoke, drink... etc

does anyone know what 'the Leidseplein' is?

our hotel adverises as being quite close to it?
Its one of the main squares on the edge of the city centre

I live in Amsterdam. The younger rags were all in the red light getting wasted and having banter with the Ajax fans. The younger Ajax fans tend to drink there before a match and jump on the Metro to get to the game (Metro number 54 btw). I went down to see what was going on when united were here and it was quite a good laugh, very little trouble and very amusing seeing all these wasted mancs around...

Leidseplien is in the centre and is an area full of bars and restaurants, it is one of the most expensive areas to drink. Its a good place to stay. (Get on tram 10 or 7 towards the East and change at Waterlooplein and then jump on the Metro 54 to get to the ground)

Dutch Police are actually very chilled. Unless you behave like a total cock you wont have any issues.

Like many have a said get yourself a travel card for 2/3 days and cruise around on the trams and metro, you could see a lot in next to no time...

Liedseplein (spelling?!) is where il be, theres a bar/restaurant called "Pancake Corner", bucket of heineken, all you can eat ribs and fit waitresses. Also known as the Sports Cafe.... It's opposite the Burger King. The waitresses are very tidy..
