Andrea Cambiaso

I am actually wondering what is the Juve's pov on him
I wouldn’t stress too much about Juve’s perspective on this. If Pep sees some untapped or unexploited potential in the player that fits his system, that’s what truly matters. Pep has a way of identifying qualities that others overlook and turning players into perfect fits for his vision.

I imagine he’ll start him as a full-back who inverts into midfield, adding overloads in possession and shutting down passing channels when out of possession. When we have the ball, he could push into the final third, becoming a real menace with his attacking runs, crosses into the box, or even as a direct goal threat.

Pep loves his Swiss army knife-type players—those who can adapt and thrive in multiple roles within his system. It’s not hard to picture Pep coming up with some genius tactics that leave us all in awe, once again reinventing the way we think about positions and roles on the pitch. If there’s one manager who can turn this signing into a masterstroke, it’s Pep Guardiola.

Next season with the return of players and this signing we might get the dream combination of Phillips Cambiaso and Nunes.

So because of the CL rule that you can only play players listed early on until Feb, no chance of Cambiaso or Luis coming until after their last CL game January, or have I got it wrong.

It seems like a perfect deal for Juve to want City to slightly overpay for Cambiaso and, concurrently, allow City take Luiz on a loan-only deal, with no purchase option.

70M lmfao. If we pay that then every club will expect 70M for every player we are interested in.

Agree with most of that, but I must point out Philips & Nunes as high hope signings (well not me personally with Nunes) who our acquisition team thought would enhance the team, so there are never any guarantees.

What I would say is we seem to have got far more right than wrong, so on that basis, we have to trust the assessment & due diligence process.

I've read mixed reports about Cambiaso, & the most I've seen of him is on YouTube videos. Can't say he's ever stood out to me when watching Juve, but Pep sees things in players that ordinary mortals can't.

I also can't help but think that the finality of Pep's marital situation, will give him the space, peace & focus he needs during these difficult times on & off the pitch which, will ultimately benefit Manchester City.

Last Monday, I found out that City were linked to Cambiaso, and the rumors were strong. Initially, I hesitated to post about it on BM because he wasn’t a player I would have imagined us targeting, because he was not someone I was ever impressed with, maybe it was because of my ignorance or maybe I was not seeing much of him play. In my mind, I didn’t see us signing so many players in the January window, so I assumed the rumors might be fake and didn’t want to overextend myself.

Secondly, I thought that if City were to bring in another player, it would be someone to fill the 6/8 position, not a full-back. And if it was a full-back, I imagined it would be someone like Vanderson, Singo, or Hakimi. I wasn’t aware of just how versatile Cambiaso was at the time.

That said, I wouldn’t lump Cambiaso into the (Phillips camp) because he’s incredibly versatile and has much better ball knowledge and movement. Slowly but surely, I began to warm up to the idea, though I was and I am still put off by the amount Juventus is asking for. Honestly, I still don’t think he’s worth that price.

However, when I started considering why we’d target him over more traditional full-backs, it became clear that his versatility would give Pep endless tactical options. That realization helped me make peace with the idea of signing him. Even though I am still on the fence about him, I hope Pep can truly unlock Cambiaso’s potential in the ways I can not imagine because he seems like a player who can thrive in a Pep system. He’s got a good head on his shoulders, and I expect good things from him.

If he’s truly the player we want, all we can do now is hope he works out—especially considering the price tag and the potential headache it’ll bring if he ends up being a flop.

I understand the PL teams hate us but can’t we come to an understanding with a totally broke Juventus about getting us Cambasio at a reasonable rate and we will send one of our academy prospects or even the old players like Stones or Ake next summer at a reasonable price.

We are helping Lens get Bah on loan from us after they sold us Koshonav this January.

We are rich and have great contacts. Should help us having deals all across Europe with our academy and first team churning out world class players one after the another.

We don't sign traditional full backs, the ones we sign need to have further attributes than jockey, down the line and the odd decent corner . Flops will come along,it.cant be helped

Reports more in the region of €65m maybe we get him for €55m for a player of his skill intelligence plays in multiple positions is fair fee!

The recent Lens move is a fantastic tactic from City. We get the player we want, then we buy & loan the selling team a replacement player we'd been looking at, so they can develop him further.

After a listless first five months of the season, we're baring out gnashers & behaving like the transfer behemoths people believe us to be.

At this rate, there has to be a clearing of the decks come the summer, so we can continue our stunning rebuild. The obvious position we're missing is CDM. Either we're about to pull a rabbit out the hat this window, or we plan to go massive in the summer window to finally get Rodri the competition/backup he needs.

After the failures of Philips & Nunes, I suspect City realise our next CDM purchase has to succeed, as we can never leave a player like Rodri who operates in such a crucial position, exposed again.

Great post and I agree totally.

We sign CBs to play full back and full backs to play....anywhere! So Cambiaso fits the profile perfectly.

Juve fans starting to turn on him saying his head has been turned by us.
