Andy Carroll - Would you?

I know i have already spoke about this fella in another thread a few weeks back but just wanted some more opinions.

In my opinion if we are getting rid of Adebayor, Santa Cruz and JO we will need atleast 2 more strikers for Balotelli and Tevez.

I would start to give Guidetti some more time on the pitch for us and i would also go out and buy this fella.

Yes he has had some problems off the pitch and has a shite haircut and not everyones biggest fan but hes a class player no matter what anyone says, he is the best player in the world in the air hes class on the ground and at the moment twice the player Adebayor is.

People rave about Dzeko and yeah he could well be the next best thing but is unproven in the premier league and could cost us up to £40 million where as we could get Carroll for about £15.

Atrocious? What do you base that on? The fact hes got the same amount of league goals as Tevez this year?

He's not though is he? Try and be constructive and people might listen.

If Marwood is correct and we are on the hunt for the best young British talent around then he has to be on the radar. Ideally, lets's see how he fares the rest of this season and next before making a decision on him.

I like him. He's strong, good in the air, can finish and has pace. He's obviously a bit of a balloon off the pitch so that needs sorting out. Great potential though.

Sorry mate but I'm not having that...he's had one decent season in the Championship and not even half one in the PL...he's achieved absolutely nothing to justifying being mentioned as "best player in the world" at anything yet.

I can tell you a far better player in the air for starters-Tim Cahill.

We should be staying away from archetypally British footballers if anything. We play a more continental system/style of play and moreover when was the last time a 'typically English good 'ol fashioned centre forward' was signed by Barcelona or Real Madrid or a giant European club.

In fact the more I think of it, the best English players in my lifetime have been the ones who 'bucked the trend' and played like a foreigner to one degree or another. With a couple of exceptions, but mostly.

Also, Carroll is the type of player we are trying to lose in terms of his off-field antics.
