Andy Rourke RIP

Very sad news.

Pancreatic cancer is such an awful cruel disease.

By complete chance, I was at The Smiths first ever gig at the Ritz - I had tagged along with a few mates (they were all jazzfunkers) to see Blue Rondo a la Turk, The Smiths were the support. There was only about 15 people in the crowd when The Smiths played so I count myself as being very lucky to have witnessed that.

Thanks for the music and the memories

R.I.P Andy Rourke
Great story to tell the grandkids that. Whatever people's opinion of the Smiths and Morrissey they have certainly left a legacy. My kids are 16-18 and both big fans.

Sad news and pancreatic cancer like Terry Hall. I think he was the same age too.

Andy was a red but definitely wasn't one of those Eamonn Holmes, Mick Hucknell types.

Just woke up to loads of text messages - very saddened to hear this.
Have been fortunate enough to have met him on a small number of times and a lovely bloke.
He organised those 4 Manchester v Cancer gigs and then succumbs to it.......

RIP Andy.
Never to be forgotten as being a member of the band that produced the songs that saved my life......
There is a light that never goes out x
