Good point.
At the time of the referendum, if we had known then what we know now , of the 52% leavers probably about 40% would have still vote leave with 12% going over to Remain, resulting in a 60% to 40% Remain vote.
Current average of polls show 54% to 46% in favour of Remain, because 6 of the previous 12% who would have voted Remain at the time of the referendum now think we should honour the referendum result.
That is the tragedy of Brexit.
Still stiff upper lip and mustn't grumble.
The English way.

That seems to be a problem that your minorities in the UK, have with this.

Google "Bite sized chunks" Karen,, we're talking about educated people here with access to the best constitutional experts and legal brains in the land.. not a bunch of kids on a Prince's Trust team-building day
Do these legal brains do house calla? mp's sat up all night reading it don't have access to them

And if I'm not mistaken isn't there a photo of Charles having a laugh with Gerry Adams?
Surely not!

You're right... he looks close to pissing himself ;-)

It's called doing your civic duty.... you make it sound like he's gone full republican and bought the T Shirt...

I'm off... on this one we will never agree
All I did was post a picture.

You seem to have assumed a lot about my views based solely on that.

Enjoy the game.

At least we finally have the answer to the riddle ‘What is Brexit?’. Brexit as it turned out was the UK leaving the Single Market and Customs Union. Unfortunately it was the UK Single Market and Customs Union that it was obliged to leave.

There is a moral in this somewhere.

So many contradictions in that post - and I am on my phone

But in short....

Let's honour the first one is the democratic approach and what I have always supported

Democracy - I know - can be so inconvenient
You are on the phone?

Omg really?

And you can think and type and condescend, when you are on the phone?
You are truly some guy.

They don't care. I doubt they every have, really, It has been obvious for some time now that it is Brexit at any cost - why do you think they just want it 'done'? They think people are stupid, there are no benefits. But if there are it will be 50 years until the country will see any, the country voted to lose jobs. They are telling us this stuff on national TV yet people still buy it
I don't think the British people are stupid but I think this lot know how to play the game. They can do what they want - Labour are years away from winning a majority, it is not in the SNPs gift to call a 2nd Indy Ref and they will call the Lib Dems undemocratic for the next 10 years, which will be lapped up
Long and short. It make no odds what happens with Brexit, the Tory's are here to stay and they know it. There are enough ideologs, there are enough people who don't know enough, enough people who still agree with Brexit and enough not to matter that they will stay in power. On top of that, there are enough people for them and their mates at the Mail, Sun, Express etc. to blame if/when it does go tits up
Sit back and get used to it
I agree with this.
Power before principles at all cost.
And they are very good at it.
But it's not good for the country.
Cameron was all 'green' and 'hug a hoody' and ' big society' when it suited until the Tories got into power in 2010 and then did a complete volte face and imposed austerity and didn't give a shit about the environment.
In 2013 Dave then decided on the EU referendum NOT because he felt there was a need for one but because he needed to solve an internal problem in the Tory Party ( party before country again),And the result is the current existential crisis in our country.
In another remarkable bout of hypocrisy the Tories have now abandoned their sacred mantra of austerity and eliminating the deficit and as an electoral gimmick are promising tax cuts and increased public spending on the back of increasing the deficit (and of course the national debt).
And finally for bare faced lying one needs only to remember what May and Johnson said about preserving the precious precious Union, only for these promises to be ditched in the latest WA.
Not an exclusive list by any means but aided and abetted by their friends in the printed and broadcast media and the establishment, they are a successful machine for holding on to power.
Meanwhile the country has to suffer from their lies, hypocrisy and the fall out from their internal crises.

The government tactic is to try to encourage the quick passage of Johnson's agreement on what is essentially hearsay.

You may have noticed Tory ministers claiming on broadcast media at very available opportunity that everywhere they go people are urgently asking them to "get Brexit done". This is very probably a lie. There is some truth in it, in as much as people are righteously fatigued by a process that to the average person is opaque, somewhat bewildering, and seems to have been going on interminably for over 3 years.

However it is telling that researchers conducting focus groups report that while participants respond favourably to the idea of "getting Brexit done" by implementing the Johnson deal, when informed that doing so will not, in fact, get Brexit done, but will merely trigger an even longer period of many years of further negotiations, "an awkward silence ensues".

Unsurprisingly, the "get Brexit done" tactic is profoundly dishonest, the latest phase of the grand scale con-trick that is Brexit. Thank Fuck that there are decent men and women like Benn, Letwin, Starmer, Lucas, and Bercow keeping watch.
