You didn't answer his questions about the Eurozone.

Why are other European economies ALSO doing badly?

The fact is, for a partner such as the UK, it should be 100%, if we really cared about the "project". We don't so let's make it about trade. 87% clearly says, "yeah, let's just make trade and work easier"

You're not restricted at all. You can still migrate, travel and work in the EU just as you can anywhere else in the world.

You're portraying a "remoaner" stereotype right now with these arguments, and i've already had them.

Which is why I would've been okay with EFTA to keep the good bits such as FOM, access to the single market and customs union.

This current deal is crap as we lose all of those benefits and are worse off economically, ergo brexit is crap

Which is why I voted to leave so we would hopefully join it. EFTA option is still brexit, numbnuts. I think you've made "brexit" synonymous with "no deal". That's silly.

Shame the remainers didn't get behind EFTA membership and mention it more often in the media/twitter circles instead of "remain! remain! bollocks to brexit!" It's not like there wasn't a leave endorsed EFTA 4 UK campaign... oh wait.

Congratulations, you played yourselves.

Nope, we didn't join EFTA like you hoped we would so now we lose all the benefits of EU membership.

Congratulations, you played yourself.
I voted to leave. And we're leaving. We leave with a trade deal, and I'll be getting exactly what I wanted. That's the only "benefit" of EU membership I was concerned about.

You've got nothing left, have you. :)

You said you wanted to remain in EFTA, make your bloody mind up.
Erm we can't "remain" in the EFTA, we're not a part of it. Because of what the EFTA's relationship with the EU was. Trading in Europe without tarriffs or requiring membership.

That's essentially all the EFTA is. That's what we're getting. You've got nothing.

Correct, I did. Because of what the EFTA's relationship with the EU was. Trading in Europe without tarriffs.

EFTA included freedom of movement, single market access and access to the customs union

If I didn't know better it would appear you don't know what EFTA entails.

Yes it did. (but members could choose access to the CU, it wasn't obligatory)

You don't seem capable to understand the concept that whilst I "wanted" to rejoin the EFTA (we can't 'remain' as we weren't part of it) for the benefits of what an EFTA membership entailed, so long as we were still able to trade with the EU tarriff free, i'd be satisfied and I am.

I am very pleased with how it's turned out in recent weeks, and we haven't even started our application so who is to say years down the line that we won't?

What arguement are you even making right now? I should be "upset" because we aren't IMMEDIATELY joining the EFTA? We've got plenty of years to consider that and even if we don't I won't be that fussed. We'll be free of the EU, which was much more important.

You've got nothing.

I think secretly even though many leavers will never admit it, this was what it was all about for many of them. Beating the remainers regardless of whether we'd be better off or not, it's actually quite sad when you think about it.
You're entitled to your wrong opinion.

a load of cobblers. The UK has been doing a bit better than the Eurozone and a bit worse than the G7. Insofar as there’s been a cost of Brexit, it’s been the cost of delaying Brexit and the uncertainty of the last few Years. Even the FT is now on board.

Look at the response of metal biker . in terms of laws I don’t like the one that means we have to pay billions annually to be part of the trading club which other countries like Japan and Canada don’t have to and have the same trading rights . That’s a fairly big law I don’t like.

When did Japanese banks get the right to sell us their financial services?

You said you wanted to remain in EFTA, make your bloody mind up.

mate you are making the classic mistake of making assumptions and thinking you know why people voted leave .

there is a distinction between wanting an economic relationship with the eu and a political one.

that’s why efta is attractive as it ticks that box.

that said I think where we are now economically and where Germany and France are , means we will leave the eu and get a bespoke trading agreement with the eu.

Perhaps. Just seems odd how you seem to take delight in repeatedly telling me I've got nothing as if it's a derby match and I'm a United fan.
You were taking delight in saying that because the UK Government is not currently considering EFTA membership I should be dismayed on January 31st.

I'm saying "you've got nothing" as you have no argument to make. There's no basis to what you're saying and you're making inaccurate assumptions.

what on Earth are you talking about, are you suggesting there are no Japanese banks based in the City?

I'm talking about free movement of services between the UK and the EU, which form virtually no part of the EU's trade agreement with Japan. So, as I asked, when did Japanese banks get the same rights?

No delight here. EFTA was my second most desired option after remaining
