Maybe all those involved should concentrate on sitting down and agreeing to a functional devolved government once again before spuriously claiming that the UK leaving the EU will be to blame for the tearing up (allegedly) of the GFA?

I know which one id be far more worried about.

I’m struggling to understand how it won’t be to blame.

The reason we have an open border now is because we’re in the Customs Union.

No improvements in the NI Government will stop the fact that if we leave the Customs Union and do not have a backstop, the GFA is dead.

This is even before going onto the hundreds of thousands of NI born, Irish passport holders and their rights and status, whilst living in NI.

The talking down of this issue by Leave voters is a hindrance to what you want, you need to see that. If we didn’t have this issue and our union was only England, Scotland and Wales, we’d have already left and with a fairly good deal, not as good as full membership but not too damaging.

We aren’t putting up a border

Ireland aren’t putting up a border

Eu aren’t putting up a border

All stated that.

The Northern Ireland troubles are over exaggerated as part of brexit. The main issue and hurdle of the gfa was power sharing in the north but for sometime that has failed and Northern Ireland has been governed from England but no that’s not the trigger for a return to the troubles. No it’s custom duties that’s what’s going to cause the issue . The unionists and loyalists aren’t interested in having a working joint government in Ireland . No it’s the customs duties that troubles them. Yeah right.

This is like banging my head against a brick wall.

We, the EU and Ireland will HAVE to put up a border if we leave the Customs Union and don’t have a backstop.

Either that or NI separates from the rest of the UK.

Most Favoured Nation means we have to.

Myself and others have repeatedly given this fact on this thread and it’s still being ignored.

It’s ignored because the uk have said we won’t and Ireland have said we won’t and the eu won’t.

There will be no hard border unless you are going to build it?

You have been told every time that you are wrong.

WTO does not and never will stipulate a hard border as it isnt within their remit.

Dublin, Brussels and London have consistently stated that no hard border will go up and that work is underway to minimise disruption and that checks kept to a bare minimum will be made away from the border.

MOST FAVOURED NATION.

How many times.

Dublin last week said the border will have to go in the sea if we no deal.

Are you actually following it now or is your confirmation bias just helping you make things up?

You are confusing trading with a hard border. Checks will be made but There will be no hard border . The countries who could create one have all said they won’t. Who gives a fuck about the wto. There can’t be a border unless someone builds it and mans it and they have said they are not. End of.

It turns out no one can be bothered constructing a border. Not us, not the Irish, not NI, not the EU, and not the WTO. The only person who seems to have any appetite for this sort of thing since the collapse of the USSR and the Berlin Wall seems to be Mr Trump. He may help you construct a hard border, but I believe at present he is struggling to fund a similar project on the border with Mexico.

Most Favoured nation dictates we have to.

Dublin have said it’s going in the sea if we don’t agree to the WA.

There will be a customs border. The only question is where you put it. On land or down the Irish Sea. The answer will be the one that causes the least hassle. Spoiler. It’s the sea.

Dublin is unilaterally telling us that the border between Northern Ireland and the republic of Ireland has moved to the sea?

Really ? Can I just tell my neighbour that I now have his garden and the border has moved to the road?

It will effectively be at the ports and at source.

Dublin would just love to effectively annex the north by moving it to the sea but something tells me that it isn't going to happen.

I’m trying really hard here to not ruin the forum’s improved good will.

They’re either lying or it’s pure and utter delusion.
