Why would we have intention of falling foul? We won’t fall foul because in the event of no backstop, infrastructure will go up.

You where told several times you was wrong, that the WTO who enforces MFN had no rules or authority to enforce a hard border on any nation.

Didn't our government tell us we were leaving the EU on the 29 March?

Sometimes things they say do not come to pass.

Neither side would ever say they wanted to put up borders. It would be political suicide.

If and when the situation progresses to the part where WTO becomes a factor. A border will be put up, otherwise all companies that export would go bust.

They said they didn’t wish to, not that they will do no such thing.

The government, the EU and Dublin have all said the WA is the only solution to us leaving the Customs Union.

When it comes to a No Deal scenario they will have no choice.

The U.K. Govt negotiated and signed off on the WA so Govt itself was satisfied. NI polling shows that the WA and backstop had majority support. It also had support from NI Business and Agricultural lobbies.

The failure to get Parliamentary ratification for the WA was an internal political failure for which May paid the price.

Parliament is the Sovereign Legal Authority of the UK, not some failed Prime Minister. Was never agreed by 'London'.

I never said “hard border”.

Me saying we will have to have infrastructure because of MFN, is entirely different to saying WTO would enforce anything.

I was NOT wrong in anyway. I said and have said we would face legal challenges from other nations if we didn’t abide to MFN.

At no point have I said WTO enforce anything.

The WTO would ensure zero tariffs are applied to exports from the rest of the world to the UK if MFN has been proven to have been breached which it would have been if goods are imported to NI from ROI via the land border. So you are correct that the WTO won’t force a hard border but the consequences of not having one will be that our manufacturing and agricultural industries could no longer be competitive due to the imbalance in tariffs.

The U.K. Govt via the executive conducts international negotiations not Parliament and at the time of the negotiations May was not a failed PM she was in fact the only person with the authority to conduct such negotiations as the head of the elected Govt representing the U.K.

Its essentially the EU /ROI who will have to build and man it then. Good luck to the Irish PM selling that one to his population.

So thats the WTO dont have any rules nor will they insist on a hard border question sorted.

We have now also sorted out that we have zero intention of falling foul of MFN.

We agree goods will be checked and tariffs applied where necessary as well.

We wont adopt the WA nor will we stay in the CU so the infrastructure for the checks is up for debate?

Im going for at source and at the ports as they are now for non EU trade and i think its what Dublin and Brussels will opt for as well.

Whistlin' in the light.... checking at source works (ish) for containerised goods, custom-sealed, non sensitive non-hazard, for the curtain-siders with mixed manifest nil chance.
Live-stock to/from non-EU destinations,. every animal with it's own passport... the logistics for any country is a ball-ache, for the UK, impossible. Perishable goods, may as well not bother. You never know, Hamburg and Rotterdam and Calais might have "express lanes" for english wagons a nod and a wink, the old entente cordiale, they might give our drivers ready-stamped carnets...not sure about the RoI though, maybe just clamp down on rpg's and untaxed derv, oh, and condoms for sure
