Still 25 minutes until kick off. Not much happening on the concourses (although the away fans have been in their seats since 7pm, the weirdos).

Staring with two midfielders at the back and no CBs. both ota and stones on the bench.

so parliament passes th bill at this stage, and looks for more time to properly analyse it, and the gov threatens to pull it. Who is 'frustrating brexit' now, i've lost track.

All of this goes back to the initial refferendum and how poorly organised it was, i still don't understand why there wasn't a ruling before the vote about an overall majority.

Surely there should have been something along the lines of there must be a 55% leave vote for us to procede, at least that way there would have been a clear mandate to leave the EU, just like these votes in the house of jokers tonight in theory one vote can swing a decision that affects the country, how can this be right?

I'm confused. Have they passed the bill or just agreed to consider it? Passing it and then asking for time to scrutinize it seems like the wrong way around.

Passed the second reading, more time to scrutinize and put forward amendments.

I've always thought that referendums like this should be a two-thirds majority, because unlike a general election, it's effectively a permanent change. But all of the problems have occurred because it was only an advisory referendum. If it had been binding, presumably there'd need to be far more detail about how it was to be enacted. It's almost as if it was all done in a half-arsed way to save David Cameron's party, rather than for the good of the country.

Passed the first stage but rejected the timetable for the next stages, then the government pulled it. Not sure why, an extension and a couple of months progressing and amending a bit they could have got it through. Seems they've thrown their toys out because of Johnsons dead in a ditch deadline, being missed.

It does look like the threat was an attempt to persuade and which hasn't worked.

Notable that Ken Clarke asked why pull it rather than let them have the two days scheduled at it.

I am confused now, they are saying that there is not enough time to study the deal and the answer is to put all debate on hold.

Aren't we just losing even more time now?

It's pathetic really. Labour are never going to allow Boris to be the one to get the agreement, and Boris is never going to want an agreement unless he's the one that can be the hero.

It's all about Boris now (was always thus). Needs to get us out on 31/10 for his pitch at the next GE. Stuff what is in the deal, he just needs that over the line.

Johnson and the Government pulled it. Those that said they wanted more time would happily carry on all week, by the sounds of it

Yes but there is a pool of votes there , if he puts a deal together that brings back the DUP , Tory rebels, Labour rebels he could win a vote, he won the first one today. IMO, a-customs union deal would sail through.
Football time now.

They haven't pulled it, they've paused it til they get a response from the EU.

They voted first for the legislation to pass to the second reading.

They then voted against allowing the vote on that stage to complete this week and so in theory it could complete anytime so he paused it.

He has already been forced to extend so my guess is he is now going to try and get the EU to reject extension.

Parliament will then be forced to accept his deal and push the legislation to avoid no deal when the vote on either come.

Failing that, he'll go for an election.

He cannot go for an election without the collusion of the opposition.

Parliament will require him to seek an extension to January.

The bill has not got through yet. At the final reading the stars might align completely differently.
