The tabloids are uniting behind Johnson, well apart from the Mirror obvs. The rhetoric is “he’s done his duty” etc. etc. and I genuinely think he’ll secure 40% of the electorate purely based on Brexit.
What about the Sun in Scotland and Ireland?

That's where my head is at. So long as we have frictionless trade, then everything else is manageable as far as I am concerned. Many things will be worse - not least being poorer - but we'll cope. And you know there may just be some sunny uplands if we can keep to sensible moderately right wing or centre ground policies. Like NOT nationalising things for idealogical reasons and for which we have no money.
Many things will be worse- not least being poorer- but we’ll cope . Should have had that on the side of a bus . I would imagine the millions of families struggling financially at this moment in time will be delighted.

Their ability to hold a room is what I was getting at and standing out from the crowd as being someone with incredibly strong interpersonal skills, to almost own someone in a discussion.

If those of us who litter this thread regularly sat in a pub corner with Theresa May, we wouldn’t be able to lay a glove on her, in a debate.

Ah yes, I agree with that.

I think the politicians have made a balls up of this but can't help feel that we the people have been stupid as well. We drew lines between us making it all about winners and losers and all the middle ground was abandoned. I voted Remain but for the life of me I will never understand why many will not accept than leave won and that the result had to be respected why insult voters about being thick and racist when you might need these people to come over to your side in order to achieve a soft Brexit. Leavers crowing saying you lost get over it and getting one over on the elites when their campaign was run by those very elites they dislike so much. The whole thing became about winning at all cost. I have no doubt that many people understood the ins and outs of Brexit and voted accordingly but nothing will convince me that the majority did understand it not because of stupidity but because it was too much to take in and soundbites took over. Remain were never going to convince people with nothing that all was good and that everythings fine. Corbyn tried to address this but was rounded on and is still being blamed for not being enthusiastic enough when campaigning. People should have been questioning the slogans being thrown around by Leave when they were proven to be false but how the hell they let everything be swept under the carpet labelled project fear I do not know. The shame for me is that we are still doing it and all reason has gone. I think the majority would have accepted a soft Brexit but once it turned into whose side are you on we lost all reason. I dread to think where this will end all because we on both sides wouldn't compromise.

Agree with the sentiment here.

The way the referendum was conducted, still leaves a nasty taste.
It's done however and there's no putting the lid back on.

I'm an,albeit reluctant,do the deal advocate now.

Made me chuckle...

The year is 2192. The British Prime Minister visits Brussels to ask for an extension of the Brexit deadline. No one remembers where this tradition originated, but every year it attracts many tourists from all over the world’

I’ve largely dismissed it to be honest. If we wanted no deal far easier to - just well not do a deal with the EU. If the Benn Act was triggered, force the election, fight it on no deal and if won crash out end of January.

Every time a PM peers into the no deal abyss they become determined to leave with a deal. ERG Tories may want no deal, may even think they can get it but in reality no I don’t think it’s happening or ever likely too.

Like all those prepare for Brexit ads it was all get this form, get that form, make sure you get full travel and health insurance. Seriously they weren’t exactly selling no deal or even Brexit with that campaign.
Yes but it could be a pact made with the devil.
Diana Ditch doesn't want no deal. So he wants to get his deal through Parliament (obviously) whilst giving a nod and a wink to the ERG that no deal is not off the table by end 2020, so vote for this deal and (nudge nudge wink wink) you'll get your chance come the end of next year. ERG obviously don't trust him but recognise this is the best chance they have of getting their 'pure' Brexit.
This is why Ditch has got such a major headache with the suggested amendment to the Bill from the rebel Labour and independent Tory groups to give Pariament a say in extending the transition.

Nah. Accept by all means that the deal will go through, I’ve thought that since May’s deal, but until it actually goes through advocate extensions, cheering on those buggering up the whole process and looking forward to having a laugh when we are in year 6 of the transition period and governed from Brussels.

I'm still just hoping everyone will come to their senses and we find middle ground but have to be honest my hope is fading fast. We had problems before but now with this I can see us all being ripped apart for god knows how long. I was naive but I didn't think we could be as divided as we are.

Fair point. But loving Diane Ditch though :)

Latest is that EU will tell us on Friday whether they're going to fcuk us off or give us an extension and for how long.
How much more humiliation can we take as a country?
We have become a global laughing stock.
Rock bottom UK.
Shame we didn't opt for chaos with Labour and Red Ed in 2015.
#Tory Brexit
#Tory humiliation.

Immigration certainly added to the booming economy but the decision to impose as little barriers as they could possibly get away with was incredibly shortsighted and even New Labour’s leadership realised it eventually.

In hindsight, having few barriers was foolhardy but understandable when the economy needed willing workers, and it also served the geopolitical purpose of allowing the UK to steal an economic march on its European partners/competitors. For the European Union, it also kept the idea of free movement alive when its main proponents were selfishly recalcitrant and allowed its members to delude themselves into thinking that the UK had willingly embraced the project.

One would like to think it will be a lesson learned, but I rather doubt it.
