I’m not complaining. I’m pointing out that all this dick waving over legislating not to extend whilst also removing the ability for MPs to decide on extension means any extension will be in the hands of the executive and the PM. This move makes it easier to extend by allowing Johnson the power to override the legislation.

This fetish over cliff edges and artificial deadlines is entirely in tune with the bombast and stupidity that we conduct these negotiations. We saw how badly they played in the WA and how it ended up with the EU securing their objectives. I note with some satisfaction we intend to repeat the same mistakes.
You didn't call it the "ability" to begin with, you said it was an MP's "right".

I’ll run my posts via my Legal Dept prior to posting next time.

Incidentally the option to extend is in a mutually agreed international treaty. The provision to extend might be an option the other party may wish to take up. Seems we are (again) being a bit high handed by unilaterally announcing a mutually agreed provision is void before the international treaty even comes into force. Seriously how weak and pathetic do you have to be to start ruling out options over a month before the treaty comes into force? Don’t we trust ourselves not to extend? It’s like an alcoholic pouring all drink down the sink in case they are tempted.

Hang on a minute. All the expert negotiators on here think we've got a professional team in place with a bold assertive leader. We couldn't possibly be lining ourselves up a shit negotiating position could we?

seems so - but why they are wasting their time posting on here and not giving radio interviews about their knowledge and experience on the subject and presenting their credential to Johnson so they can add their quality to our negotiating team is beyond me - if they don't get on the team my worry is it will all go tits up.

Hey, it happens to me on here all the time from your lot.

I type something, having it mean something else and it gets disected, even after I explain what I meant by it.

What about those of us who have predicted which way the public are going to vote (Thursday was of zero surprise to me) but still think it's the dumbest idea a major power has had since that adolf fella thought it would be a good idea to invade Russia? Just because people vote for it doesn't suddenly make it a good idea. Anyway, it's happening, and it's the brexiters in charge of it, so when it goes completely tits up because Johnson and co have zero interest in fully understanding the task they have in front of them, at least those of us on blue moon can flip the tables and it will be us telling you lot, we fucking told you so.
Advice on the first part - get over it

On the 2nd part - hope if you are proven to be wrong you will also be straight on here to point that out

And it will still be someone else's fault. Or you'll say "wait 50 years till you know whether it was worth it".

You are aware that WTO rules only cover goods and not services.....and that the majority of our trade is in services .... and that we would be the only country in the world purely trading our goods under WTO rules ... (even Mauritania has now joined a trading bloc)
They neither know nor care. They are a happy bunch.

(Fowler on how different people deal with split infinitives)

Will this legislation to make extension illegal be like the legislation to have five year parliaments?

Looks like BoJo and his backers have been selling sterling since the election win. Now need to 'buy it back' at a much lower price, cue BoJo announcing no extension going into the legislation. And so it continues.
Meanwhile, democracy moves on a pace as Zac Goldsmith is being made into a Lord, joining Nicky Morgan and staying in Government. Unelected officials being swept away quicker than you can say oven ready Brexit..
Are you just making that up???

If not - please prove it

If so - do you not think that you should delete your post?

Surely they have to abstain - even Corbyn could not be that stupid?
They will vote against changing the Withdrawal Act on workers' rights or amendments to rule out an extension to transition. (And there must still be Tory MPs who don't want No Deal and don't want a government job and will not be standing next time who can be truthful about how bad No Deal could be.) But they will abstain on the final vote; even if the great British public voted for Brexit there's no way they should share responsibility for what could be a Tory-led economic disaster.

Reply to the first part, I'm over the election, knew that was coming. I've been telling Corbyn supporting friends for 3 years he is a disaster and the worst thing that could have happened. One of them. Shame you feel the need to post bitchy little comments like 'get over it'. You can stick that right up your arse.
As for the second part, there will be no one happier than me if I've got this all wrong, but I'm not wrong. Boris Johnson and his government are not about substance, they are about making promises that people will like. They will blame the civil service when the impossible things they have promised can't be done as it will never be their fault. I get that you wanted brexit, but you have handed the keys to a complete fucking charlatan who does not know what he's doing.

Good piece on how Brexit has been a disaster for Unionists in NI. You need a heart of stone not to laugh.

https://www.newsletter.co.uk/news/o...it-has-been-a-disaster-for-unionism-1-9174738

'But if there is one thing all unionists need to have seared into their memories from this saga it is our extreme vulnerability at the hands of a much more powerful England that has little attachment to the UK'

pretty much sums it up. not just for N.I, but Scotland too.

Substitute England for Germany and Scotland for the UK and you have the criticisms a number of people have about the UK's relationship with the EU.

I keep saying the IndyRef was a trial run for the EURef.

Two things:

1. Sorry to offend your sensibilities with 'get over it' - I will genuinely apologise, but also observe that it is just as well that you have not been a Leaver on this forum for these years if you are so easily offended.

2. Sorry - but "....but I'm not wrong....." - give over - how are you qualified to make that statement - clue - you are not
