And why the fuck is she 'more important' - ???

I suspect because she is bringing forward a view that allows disconsolate Remainers to portray Leavers as stupid and by extension themselves as 'superior'
Says the guy who refused to listen to her broadcast.

That's neither what she said nor what I reported. You'd have to be thick or dishonest to think that.

Ok Vic.

I think Lionel Shriver has it about right. I may be simplifying her view but basically the reasons for Leave were pretty thin and it became about people who rarely won anything in life being miffed that what they'd won might be stolen from them (rather than about whether Brexit was still or was ever a good idea) whereas Remainers were baffled that said people couldn't see they'd got it wrong no matter what the evidence.

Now, she says, Leavers are about "we won" and Remainers about "we were right".

I have some sympathy with Remainers despair at leavers rejoicing in 'winning'. I don't however see this as any better or worse than Remainers crowing about being proven 'right'.

In a democratic vote that's exactly how it is.

My vote is no more important than yours and her opinion is no mare valid than anyone else's.

You might agree with hers but it doesnt make it right.
No, but, valid or not, a lot more people have heard her opinion than anyone else's on here.

And?

Dont get me wrong if you're attached to your twitter feed 24/7 i can understand why you would say that but it honestly matters not a jot to most folk.

I'd revise that only to say that I don't think she thought the reasons for leaving were thin; that's my gloss.

I just remain amazed that this has generated so much angst from people who didn't (or won't) listen to it.

Congratulations. You may have reached the same conclusion as Shriver without hearing the programme!

I don't do Twitter and please don't join all those who claim to have made up their own minds about Brexit without being influenced by what other people have written, broadcast, or fed you in Facebook adverts.

Didn't see the post tbh, but would have done you the courtesy of watching at least some of if I had. Happily it seems I've accidentally got your point.

Its not angst, its incredulity that some remain campaigners just cant look past their own noses.

It managed to lose a campaign that was almost impossible to lose and vote and for the last 3 years its not changed a single mind barely.

Its time for it to stop.

I don't know, if it means they keep shooting themselves in the foot by being patronising and alienating (over) half the population I'm fine with it. The daft buggers could easily have derailed brexit if they'd have been less blinkered - long may it continue.

Disagreement should never stop. Disagreement is healthy, for a variety of reasons

Holding the government to account on measurable aims, targets and benefits should be the normal activity of a population - saying you lost, stop questioning is not a good way to go

I've no issue whatsoever with the FTA being debated and critiqued as and when details of it emerge.

Post after post retweeting bilge telling me how thick i was 3 years on isn't debate or disagreement, its fucking annoying, counter productive and getting people nowhere.

The thing about being proved right or wrong is that requires some measures - ie if this happens it was right, if that happens, it was wrong- to be stated in advance. But leavers and remainers will not agree those measures. Whatever happens, both sides will claim victory, justification etc. The gov is never going to say sorry we got it all wrong, they will proclaim a triumph. So why bother? Just get on with maximising the deal.
When you look at the 5 Presidents Strategy and the more recent plans being driven by Paris and Berlin....:

….that will plot the future development (aka integration) along with further treaties as required - which of course would not have been exposed to a UK referendum.....

I think that we are getting out in the nick of time

From someone who thinks his view is validated because he once met Jack Straw in a pub, that's quite revealing.
What a thoroughly weird comment - you must be making some cheap jibe there - but......

FWIW - I am/have always been able to establish my own views / draw my own conclusions. I have not felt the need to parrot someone else's
