I see you are at the (insert random babble) stage of the conversation.

I regret to inform you that you were not voicing an opinion you were making false statements. Neither Macron, Merkel or Varadkar can force their countries into becoming federal states in a United States of Europe against the wishes of their citizens. So I am not disagreeing with your opinion I am correcting your false statements.
Christ, now you're assuming to tell me what I was and was not doing, just to be seen to "win" an argument.

You've lost the plot. Brexit has utterly fucked your brain.

Currently reading ‘Sapiens’ and it briefly touched on the ‘Mississippi bubble’ - Brexit immediately spring to mind

Its like you cant read Bob!? In my first post I simply said the EU have said they will refuse to give the UK the same deal as Canada. They are on record as saying so, I then gave you evidence? doesn't matter what date it is! But what is clear is that you don't have the balls to admit you were wrong! Looks like you are the Dominic Cummings of the forum pal!

Lucky then we are not asking for the same deal as Canada, so dodged a bullet there with Barnier’s comment of three months ago.

Of course if you read the article it references the fact the EU would not offer a Canada style deal because, and hold on to your skirts with this one, we ain’t Canada and that our proximity means we will be offered much better access which is fucking lucky because better access is exactly what we are asking for.

And so the conversation goes full circle...

Its apparent to me and many others in this high stakes game of poker that the EU have been forced to show their hand. Asking for an extension, and refusing to give the uk the same trading relationship as Canada and japan. Their can be only one reason for both of these decisions. They fear and believe that the UK will do better on a no deal or with that trading relationship than countries in europe. There is no other rationale really. If we are so weak and feeble why would they be bothered.
A deal shouldn't be a problem mate as we agreed the level playing field provisions in the Political Declaration.
N'est ce pas?

I think Brits should be petrified. Farmers certainly are.

French ones especially.

The CAP won't be anywhere near as generous to them in future years.

Still it gives them a chance to burn some sheep I suppose.

And your lack of understanding people's points and opinions to twist them into an argument and discussion they weren't even having appears to be yours!

You are aware that as an independent nation we can create said FTA's with those "other nations" at will, yes? Except this time on our terms.
Our terms will be no better than what we have now. EU deals with other countries don't allow those other countries to offer us anything better. Big bully EU, or the power and benefit of EU unity? (Hence why "lack of understanding" and "twist" sound a bit hollow.)

You are just not man enough to admit you were wrong. You are Cummings !

You know what my "argument" and motivations were.
Against membership of an EU that was slowly and increasingly becoming more federalised, for the UK to then leave EU, apply for EFTA. You know this, yet continually make arguments against my position insisting it's "what I voted for", despite the numerous times i've corrected you.

Thank you for confirming your ignorance. :)

Ah, EFTA - that free trade zone from Iceland to the Russian border, promised by Johnson and Gove.

....

Back in 2015 - given a chance of moving to either EEA or EFTA status I would have leapt at it ....

Frankly, I'm a bit sceptical that either of you would have been happy with still paying net contributions with much less say in policy. ("Rule takers not rule makers" was it?)

Sorry I left Bob to the pack today...

Seriously? The CAP payments will be less generous to French farmers? While the UK government is completely abolishing the payments, so subsidised EU food imports may well be cheaper here, even with transport and tariffs (if there is any UK agriculture left).

No. I’m just responding to what you actually said.

Although if you are now telling me I won the argument then I accept your concession.

No, you did no such thing, and haven't done all day.

You've revealed a lot about your motives;
- don't care about accurately quoting others
- interpret opinions as "factual statements"
- only here to cause arguments

That's a WUM, Fauxwalski

You are just not man enough to admit you were wrong. You are Cummings !

So to recap. You berate the EU for cowardice for not offering us a Canada type deal.

I respond at length telling you that we are not seeking a Canada type deal, I even articulate why we are not. What we are seeking is special privileged access and benefits with Canada style obligations which the EU will never accept.

You post a three month old article and claim victory without once having the courtesy to respond or argue the points I raised.

Sounds about right for Brexiteers. Detail and reasoned argument not really your strong point I guess.

Try and take a trip outside Manchester and open your eyes.

Well not so much a pack...more a horde of hamsters, most inevitably got trapped on a running wheel of their own peculiar logic.

"A horde of hamsters."

You were having a bad time earlier, I can tell.
Don't worry, it's over now. :)

To recap, I said in a response to another poster, the EU were refusing to give us a deal like canada. You butted in, clearly didnt read what I said, accused me of saying something else that you had convinced yourself I said, no doubt you have checked back several times, i can just imagine your sad face when you actually read what i said. I then provided evidence to back up my statement about the EU. You change tact again and say its three months old, which is both irrelavant to your original accusation and the fact that the EUs stance hasnt changed. And you then have the temerity to accuse me of a lack of detail. Hahaha.

Your attempts to try and change the topic to suit your argument are laughable.

You are a fool and not man enough to admit you were wrong. Thats all I need to know about you. The forum Cummings.
