Big row brewing with Scotland and other devolved nations as Westminster attempts to force common standards across the UK and cut across devolved competences. SNP will use this as fuel for elections and Independence drive next year. Pass the popcorn.

The organisation behind it are based in Vancouver, Canada. The politician most behind it is Trudeau, from Canada.

None of those countries are “Ex-Commonwealth”. All four are in the Commonwealth.

And what’s race got to do with it?

It’s a bloke and his dog in an office in Vancouver? Makes all the difference now I know it’s serious. I thought it was a comedy skit.

Your challenge for today in your quest to see different sides to every argument:

find a quote from Trudeau that says he's the politician "most behind Canzuk" (and we know where Trudeau comes from).

Some leavers on here argue that the EU is racist because it gives preference to free movement from countries that are predominantly white, so FoM with the overwhelmingly white Commonwealth countries must be racist (and Mazza who liked your post is one who's argued the EU is racist but I'm not sure if he's a hypocrite or just a WUM).

The difference is, I’m not on a side, so I’m not the one who needs to be open to different sides of the argument.

I’m looking for positive future deals we can get. I’m not saying I’m a pro-CANZUK campaigner and that’s my only like of thinking.

I’m not looking to rubbish everything mentioned that doesn’t agree with my line of thinking. I don’t even have one line of thinking, because only sad cunts have one line of thinking and are usually herberts who won’t even listen properly to something they don’t agree with, never mind accept them.

And I have no interest in what you make up about what Leavers on here argue.

Ah, the open mind at work, cutting and pasting "news" of an alliance to save the UK without bothering with any criticism of it, such as former Australian PM Rudd's comment, "much as any Australian, Canadian and New Zealand governments of whichever persuasion would do whatever they could to frame new free-trade agreements with the UK, the bottom line is that 65 million of us do not come within a bull’s roar of Britain’s adjacent market of 450 million Europeans."

You've posted something as vital for post-Brexit Britain, as good news for the UK that really isn't that good. You won't read contrary views. You've taken a side.

You've said I "made up" what several Leavers have clearly said. You've taken a side.

You've made up stuff about Trudeau. You've taken a side.

Who said I haven’t bothered with any criticism of it?

You’re making up an argument that doesn’t exist.

I’ve posted something that I saw online last night on a thread around the same topic. That’s it.

Who’s said I haven’t read contrary views? How do you know I haven’t? You’ve just made that up.

I’ve never read or heard neither on here or elsewhere what you said about Leavers. Never.

I don’t have a side. You think me making that one comment means I have a side?

I've edited what you replied to.

I really don't understand your stance.

If you have looked at criticism of CANZUK, are you not bothered that it really isn't something on which the UK will "depend"? And you've even admitted to not being bothered: "I’m not the one who needs to be open to different sides of the argument."

You don’t understand my stance because it’s so ingrained in you (and not just you) that there are only two sides to an argument you have to rubbish or counter-argue everything that you think isn’t your side.

You even said I took a side because of one comment I made. Do you know how sad and childish that sounds?

I’m very open to any criticism of CANZUK, I didn’t know it even bloody existed until last night.

I just thought I’d put it on here to add a bit of positivity to a thread that’s entrenched in two sides who won’t see that they’re both wrong and both creating a negative environment for all the normal people who pop in here from time-to-time to see if there have been any developments.

But we’d never know if there have been any developments because the thread is full of sad cunts who just want to rubbish everything that doesn’t sit on their end of the argument and it’s just page after page of shite.

So why add to it by posting about CANZUK without knowing how shite it is as an alternative to being in the EU?

Because the thread needs something else other than “I’m right, you’re wrong” day-after-day.

Update on how we are doing in the 40 deals we would have ready by March 2019. Well about halfway there. Facebook status: It’s complicated.

That’s lucky because although in theory it looks attractive, in practice it would just add an FTA with Australia and NZ which are our 19th and 43rd biggest trading partners. Might not go all the way to replacing the reduced amount of trade with our 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 14th, 15th and 16th largest trading partners where we will have to switch from trading under either the Single Market or under a EU negotiated FTA to trading under WTO rules. Hopefully the CANZUK agreement would be at least equivalent to the EU Canada deal so it should not significantly impact trade with our 17th biggest trading partner.

No mate, another recent poll says the Scottish independence movement is now
higher than 50%, if you want someone to rail against about the break up of the union,
try them. I, along with many others, never wanted this, but when we now have to
endure Nationalists in our parliament, and their incessant whining, then patience
wears thin.
For another thread, but as I have posted previously......

Should the UK 'fully' Leave the EU at the end of 2020 or at least 2 years ahead of the next GE - then there is (IMO) only a 'somewhat theoretical' chance that Scotland would ever vote to leave the UK.

Forget all the 'drama' and 'angst' people post and nationalism that the SNP might like to drum up - it is simple common sense.

There is - after a considerable period of time since the 2014 vote and following years of anger and frustration at the UK government for Brexit and other issues - only now an emerging majority vote for 'Yes'. Just think - there was not even a clear majority in all these years of 'peak anti-UK/England' feelings.

A future referendum on the matter would need to follow a GE leading to a government agreeing to another vote and in that unlikely scenario - the vote will be NO.

Just think through all the issues of economic damage / border controls etc. etc. that Remainers have been banging on about for 4 years - and then extrapolate that to the prospects for Scotland to plan and manage exiting the UK.

Just think about:
  • the volume of trade that goes to the rest of the UK
  • where the rest of that trade goes - and how it gets there - which ports/airports etc.
  • the issues of border controls across an 100mile border - without any other direct border option
  • the dependency of Scotland on tourism - for which there is a big dependency on travel from England
  • a big one - what about the massive dependency Scotland has on the use of UK infrastructure and systems - HMRC and DWP systems and processes etc. Remainers think unpicking the UK from 40 years of integration with the EU is difficult - it is a breeze in comparison
  • agreeing the size of the bill associated for withdrawal would be a hoot
  • and the many other issues...….
I understand Scottish based and anti-Brexit voters putting forward such concerns and expressing that the UK might break-up - but, apart from N.I. - there is little/no real substance to them.

Other Remainers using the prospect of Scotland or Wales Leaving the UK are just being shamelessly (and typically) disingenuous - or posting without understanding the subject - simples.

The prospect for Scotland to leave the UK was wholly dependent on it happening before the UK (genuinely) left the EU. It could happen in a BRINO world - but not following a genuine clean Brexit.

In other words, it's shite.

No CANZUK? Not even Oz and NZ?

If you had been on this thread for 4 years you would know the Remainer code :

No opportunity should be missed to associate all people that support Brexit and their motives for doing so to them having racist tendencies etc.

I actually voted Remain in 2016.

But I’m looking for positives to take from this situation rather than this oddball view of revelling in negativity.

If my girlfriend got pregnant and I hated her and the kid just because it’s not what I wanted, only took the negatives both have brought to my life, wished neither of them were in my life and never looked for anything good that could come from them; people would think I was a fucking ****!

It will require a reset from the minds of Remainers to have to interact with someone that is either not 'part of their pack' - or an obvious 'target for attack'

You will find that there a few Remainers that will welcome the introduction of balance and objectivity - certainly, I think, most Leavers would welcome that.

But I would predict that the more frequent/dominant Remainers will just settle for the default option of attacking whatever you post to drive you off the thread.

Interruptions of the echo chamber are generally not tolerated

They will likely not accept that you are 'neutral' - they will likely start with a need to label you to be able to deal with you. Most seem not able to adapt their flow of hate for all things Brexit and deal with any level of balance or neutral views.
