Here's something that might steer the thread back ontrack

Thats just about spot on. Its an attitude personified by the constant refrain "when we leave " totally overlooking the fact that the UK has left the EU. That cannot be acknowledged however because they need the EU to blame things on. That will ultimately be their problem........they won and will have to face up to and own up to some responsibility for what follows.

I read this the other day. It can be summarised quite neatly as “all the big name Brexiteers are morons”, which I’ve been posting on here for four years now. I still haven’t seen an exception to be honest.

I hope im considered a big name brexiteer Dave? ;-)

My wife has just confirmed I am and that i am also a moron. She can make her own fucking brew now!

As it is topical, current state of talks on refugees. Was slightly puzzled at us complaining that EU/Dublin protocol is too rigid, yet we also want to replicate it.

https://www.theguardian.com/politic...lan-for-post-brexit-return-of-asylum-seekers?

I wonder how many times each negotiation meeting ends up with David Frost saying "ah well, worth a try".

And at least we'll be taking the sovereign decision to replicated Dublin, and not have it bloody foisted on us by unelected officials.

As long as our lorries can travel freely in the EU without any restrictions and we've got enough wooden pallets we'll be alright.

ahhhhhh - the old cabotage conundrum eh? Another brick wall they are about to bang their heads against. We are going to need the Japanese to develop a huge blue stilton addiction at this rate.

Nothing to see here, they're all fine upstanding people these Brexiteers.

They are indeed a pair of slimy individuals, but Ms Cadawalldr needs to realise when she is being trolled, unless of course these 'caught on camera' moments were not purely staged to cause outrage in one group and glee in another. Lot's of folk being played - including both sides of the brexit 'debate'. That is the real aim of Bannon - to keep people divided and abusing each other.

Or just maybe Bannon and Farage have played you and a lot of other Brexiteers like a fiddle. I know it must be hard to admit it.

I would have voted to leave the EU if Mickey fucking mouse was running the campaign.

I know that pains some, I know they will never accept that many of us had already made our minds up on Britain's future outside of the EU, I know it suits for you to think we got led by the nose into the ballot booths and with a gun to our heads, made to vote leave but it simply isn't the case.

Stop trolling yourselves with Twitter posts.

The war is over.

We know no-one on Bluemoon was swayed by any external influences. Not by 40 years of right wing press lies about the EU, not by liars lying during the campaign, not by being targeted on personal social media accounts, a lot linking the refugee crisis to EU membership.

We know you formed your views from careful personal research into the workings of the EU structures. (I'd have said after looking at the economic benefits of leaving, but no, no-one on Bluemoon is that dumb.)

Just don't pretend that's true of 17.4m people, most of whom hadn't cared about the issue till the lying liars got started.

That truth can never be countenanced because acknowledgement of it would mean remainers admitting the larger and even simpler truth that they are in a minority whose view failed to gain enough traction despite having the dice loaded very much in its favour and only opposed by clowns like Farage / BJ etc. Imagine how many more would have voted leave if there had been a credible personality behind the campaign. Sadly Tony Benn wasn't around , but had he still been in politics and leading the leave campaign it could have been a landslide. As it is remain moved the goalposts, put the shittest keeper in the nets against the worst penalty taker and still missed.
Cameron thought he could pull a coup and put a divisive issue to bed, just as he had with electoral reform - leaflet through everyone's door telling them the world will end if they don't vote for the status quo and a referendum to put the issue to bed forever. Just like electoral reform where we were scared away from voting for PR in favour of the rigged system we still have. The gamble didn't work.

Bannon wants people divided, that’s how he works and gets ahead(for want of a better phrase)

If only there was something like, I don’t know, a global pandemic to bring us closer together.....but no, the Brexit lines cut too deep for even a pandemic to bring us together as a nation.

Sadly everything gets carved up in a binary slanging match so it fits twitter and keeps everyone in two camps throwing rocks at each other. Brexit an obvious example, but everything seems to be very black and white now - it seems you have to hate either Starmer or BJ for instance, and thinking both have their good and bad points is not a fashionable view. With anything nowadays a true centrist view that doesn't take a 'side' is quickly attacked.Sad really.

It's because they must never have been told 'No' as kids, a never ending frustrating, footstamp ensues when eventually someone actually does, and means it.

Whilst I agree, I have faith in my fellow man/women. You are right as social media seems to put people in camps of pro Brexit/anti Brexit, pro mask/anti mask, pro help for refugees/they should stay in France, pro equality/just let the best person get the job. Pro BLM/Lewis Hamilton wears Hugo Boss, pro statues/anti statues etc

However, social media isn’t everyone but even if it was it’s very reactionary. Not many actually care about a particular subject just pick a side and re-hash convenient articles I.e here today gone tomorrow and onto the next ‘debate’ - I don’t think debates in the pub or workplace are half as hostile and I believe people can and do change their minds

The US election will be interesting to put this to the test. It seems lots of Republicans will be happy to vote Biden because he talks of the real issues rather than shower heads and walls etc. - trouble with the U.K. is that Brexit and the fallout is ongoing and will continue for years. If it is a disaster, will we as a country look at ourselves and our own decisions or blame someone/something else. Time will tell....
