We call her Jennifer Arcuri who coincidentally received public funds while giving late night ‘tech lessons’ to Johnson while he was Mayor of London and got herself on trips for which she did not meet the criteria.

There is a shed load of this to get through and as as our public guardian on these matters you need to get a move on.

That has to do with brexit how exactly?

Start a thread, fire away, go for it, its a free country........

Oh, so it’s wasn’t her bilking the taxpayers for a grand you were objecting to, it was what she used the money for.

So to be clear, you are okay with corruption as long as you agree with the politician involved in the corruption. Which explains why you give Johnson and the Tories a pass I guess.

No its both but you know this.

No - it is an interesting topic and it's worth exploring it a bit more.............

Yep - I saw the Bloomberg article - sensible management of negotiations that - I have repeatedly commented upon the professionalism of Barnier and his team - especially the group he had at the start.

I would expect - or at least hope - that our team are being similarly professional and ensuring that EU concessions can be dressed up to make it easier for the likes of Macron to present them as victories during his election campaign etc.

But the key words are - compromises and concessions - just let that sink in.

FFS - We even have bob admitting that the EU are compromising - even if it is posted without seemingly feeling any need to admit to being wrong on the subject for so long

We Leavers have had years of patent nonsense about the omnipotent EU - a rules based construct that cannot be made to make any deviation from its rules - yet it has and it does.

It changed its approach - to the detriment of the UK - when Barnier realised what utter incompetents May and Robbins were. So they changed to take more controls over the UK. Why would they not? after all when you have a lemon - squeeze it

And now they have had to get over the sense of bereavement they must have felt when losing their doormats they have changed again and started the journey of compromise

I wonder what the concern was that made them change their positions?

Any ideas?
Come on mate I'm not about to compare a potential deal that was never negotiated by Mavis with another different and lighter potential deal that has still to be negotiated by BoJo.
Just on your application for EU residency, are you aware that the citizenship for investment scheme in Cyprus finishes on 1st November?

Apparently Barnier’s arriving today.
So that’s Brexit done with the final score UK 1 EU 0.
According to some on here.

Really? The elcetion is 4 years away, there will likely be 60 thousand people dead as a result of CoronaVirus by the end of Decemeber, mass unemployment and hungry children. I don't think people would be that bothered if we put off national self-harm for a few more months
The talking, apart from a few details, is over, the EU have accepted they’re negotiating with a sovereign nation. Because of May, and Parliament, this has dragged on for 5 years, it won’t carry on for another 5,much as the EU would like it to.

We’ve been a sovereign nation ever since the term was invented and that includes the last 45 years. Making out that it’s some sort of victory that the EU are treating us as such is a bit desperate tbh.

Hey I am just holding a mirror up to your posts

What you should see is a poster who - after literally 100s of posts in which they have been adamant that the omnipotent EU is a rules based organisation blah blah blah.. and holds all the cards blah blah blah.. and won't need to compromise or make concessions blah blah blah..

Is suddenly leaking the words concessions and compromises by the EU into several posts

Now - I get it - I really do

I can understand that you don't like the reflection - but a mirror simply does what a mirror does

Any suggestions on what may have brought about this change of approach by the EU?

Could it be something that they are suddenly facing perhaps?

Let me think about it and I will get back to you.....
Remember all the EU omnipotent, UK some piddling nobody over the last 5 years? We’ll get a FTA, which some of us said we would.

No, you’ve been wrong, and are now discovering that fact, we will not be accepting their diktats, and our territory is ours to permit, allow or gift. They have come here, we are not going to them, they now know this.

True, but the fact they are treating us like on is progress of sorts in itself.

Netherlands one of the hold outs on fish apparently...

Michel Barnier told a meeting of EU envoys last night he 'wasn’t worried about anything else but fish'. One diplomat said: 'Fish is now the thing to tackle. The other elements seem doable.' When fishing is the only blockage left it means a deal is close.‘

From the Reuters article I just posted...

But the UK side have argued that they must stick up for their position, and honour Johnson’s pledge to “take back control”. Some in his team saw a small victory in the EU talking up British sovereignty to get the talks back on track.‘

Err...think it's about how good the FTA is.
Does it cover services,finance etc?
Does it protect the car industry, chem and pharm etc where standardisation and no non tariff barriers is important.
Etc Etc.
N'est ce pas?

UK wins so far
- Barnier’s coming to London to negotiate
- They’ve agreed to treat us as a sovereign nation

EU wins
- 3 year transition for fishing

I bet they’ve even agreed to speak English in the negotiations. We’ll be asking them to recognise London as the undisputed capital of the UK next.

Too much winning.

I am thinking they are going to get there .
