Fuck me really? As the Leave supporters realise what the dubbed Project Fear just wasn't that their desire to disown their shiteshow knows no bounds

So our strategy for a trade deal with America is to hope that a populist racist president would get a second term? Well at least we know we can get a good price on a Honda with the one deal we have so far. When we leaving again is it two months time?

Not sure what we were mean't to be hoping for tbh. If Trump got in we were going to get a deal that apparently involved the horrors of privatised NHS and chlorinated chicken, and if Biden got in then there would be no deal and the post brexit apocalypse would be further compounded. Clearly, faced with two such dire options the only sensible course of action would apparently be remain / revoke (again) it would seem.

This narrative that a Biden win is somehow bad for the UK and that it means no trade deal is utterly ludicrous.

Looks like a headline made up by a certain person who posts on here.
If you mean who I think you mean, I doubt even he could come up with an assertion to support every Daily Express headline. They're all over the place on Brexit. NB I used assertion rather than argument as he doesn't do argument.

We may actually agree! It's hard to understand why we'd get a better deal from a president whose slogan is "America first" than from one who doesn't say that (and one you can trust).

I don't think it matters much who the president is in terms of a trade deal with the USA. When one is done it will be pretty much to their advantage anyway. They have lower standards, lower costs and greater economies of scale than the UK and are unlikely to forego those advantages.

Very much the case. USA looks after USA.

In terms of a final deal no difference. The difference is how much priority Biden would put on getting a deal done any time soon over other deals, and also how much he would allow a deal done that he thought went against the GFA.

They also have far higher incidences of food poisoning as well....

I thought trade deals were in the remit of Congress not the President.

January 2020.

The end of negotiations is in two months.

Where are all these trade deals we were supposed to be negotiating? There are 195 countries on the planet so far we have one deal.

The rights and wrongs of brexit have been done to death it’s happening, you think Johnson and his cronies would be a lot further along than this by now. If we can extract the maximum benefit of leaving the EU have we got the wrong people in charge of making it happen? The governments handling of covid gives me no confidence they can get the actual thing they have been given a mandate for right.
