I thought he was a fraud until late last season. Now I'd be happy for him to stay. Just to do what he did today when needed.

I think one can play before the group stage, and play for a different team in the group stages.
Have a feeling he'd get loaned out anyway, quite a lot of competition in the attacking midfield positions at the moment.

Fernando is being linked with a move away.
Fernando played well at the end of the season but really dont see a midfielder technically gifted enough to play in Pep's system. Still think we need another CM before the window shuts and Coric does seem to fit the type of player Pep likes to use. Coric only 19 but has had alot of experience for such a young age. Would be nice to see Coric get a shot in the squad this year, as could see him having a big part to play in for years to come. I think we have a few players in the squad like Fernando, that Pep can work with but in a perfect world, are not a "true" fit for his system.

Watched the replay of his 25-minute sub stint vs Salzburg. Played LW, stuck pretty close to the line for a while then roamed into MF for the last 10 mins or so. He did okay, his cross led to the Zagreb PK. Didn't have much luck dribbling, not sure he beat one man, but his passing was fine - one 45-yard diagonal was inch perfect. Should have scored shortly after entering but his header in the goal mouth bounced down off the pitch and over the bar to the dismay of his teammates. He took a nice shot from outside the box once, one-hop knuckler that tested the keeper a bit. Wore a soft elastic brace on his wrist, fwiw. Lastly, Zagreb suxxxxx. Please don't sign him and leave him there on loan. Send him to La Liga.

On holiday in Croatia at moment so chatting with loads of locals about this kid. He is held in high regard but far from finished product. Everyone I have spoken to would snap our hands off anything over 10m and everyone assumes Liverpool not us are front runners? Not seen any recent links to Liverpool myself so slightly puzzled

I would rather go for Kovacic.
Sign him and loan him to a team like Sporting Gijon or something in la liga so he can get some development time.
Why would he want to go to bloody Gijon?! He's in a champions league team right now, getting games every week.
